I would rather have Flynn than Alex Smith. I am pretty well done with Smith, I know he had a decent year, but I just don't think his upside is high enough for me to want him as our QB anymore.

I don't think the 49ers sign Manningham late on a Saturday night of the weekend Peyton is making up his mind unless we think we have a decent shot.

I'd still list us as 3rd most likely on the list come Mon or Tues when he announces, but I have to think the 49ers at least think it's definitely possible. Of course, it's definitely possible for Denver and Tennesee too. Peyton has some very good options here.

I think the signing of both Manningham and Moss as part of the courting process. Look Payton we have fantastic Defense and now just put 2 very nice receivers for you to throw to. We want to win a Super Bowl.

Yeah, that's where I would rank us too--which is why I don't think we get him.

And to the other guy who said the 49'ers wouldn't have gone through the trouble of giving him a physical unless they were serious. I'm not questioning whether the team is serious about him or not (they obviously are), I do question whether Peyton is serious about the 49'ers--I hope I'm wrong.

The fact remains that Peyton has visited both Denver and Tennessee but not San Francisco. Does he know the 49'ers facilities from previous visits? I just get the feeling that we are being used as leverage.

There may be a reason for it but I'm not sure why Peyton would have told them where he was going. The only reason he would tell them he's going to SF is if he was using them to get a better contract with Tennessee or Denver.

How would that conversation go?

Peyton: "Yeah, nice facilities but I'm not signing here and P.S.--and please don't tell anyone because that would give me leverage--I'm going to SF! See you guys later, please don't tell anyone (especially the Titans and Broncos *wink *wink) that I'm signing with SF"

Could be. But, if Manning actually told owners/GMs that reason he wasn't signing with them was because their roster was bad, he would be an incredible jerk (which I don't believe he is).
