this is a little off topic, but....do the Yankees have any really good position players in the pipeline? Rather than looking outside, doing the free anent over-priced tango, the team should be growing its' own. Who are the 'core 4' of tomorrow?

"I can't remember the last time a top draft pick panned out. "

You don't remember,

Griffey Jr

Chipper Jones

A Rod

Josh Hamilton

Adrian Gonzalez

Joe Mauer

Justin Upton

David Price

Stephen Strasburg?

Those are just the no. 1 picks that turned into superstars there are a few guys that just turned out to be good players like Burrell, Nevin and Erstad.

he will never be a Yankee and neither will Strasberg. Both will be extended by the Nats. Both will be part of a very good developing young team who is getting ready to make a strong bid to be a winner.

He is just 19, but he will not be a FA until he is 26 since he came up in the past month. That does not count as a full year. It starts his arbitratiuon clock .
Nats will find a way to extend him past a few of his FA years. More likely he won't hit FA until he is 29 or 30. By them , the Nats will have had him for his best years.
They will so the same with Strasberg. They will extend him until he is 29 or 30.

We need to forget about these kind of guys and get better with our draft pick selections and player development. Maybe we can steal one of the Rays's guys. They seem to have the magic touch in player selection and development.

Now his daddy needs to tell him not to sign any long term contracts and wait for free agency. Then he can play for his favorite club.

The Pretend Yankee fans all think it's fantasy baseball. They don't think winning 97 games is enough. We have to go 162-0 and everyone has to hit. 500 and the pitchers go 25-0. These are the same guys who, if Montero was here, and started out 2 for 35 would have been screaming that we should have traded him when his value was high.

Banuelos, Betances, Williams, Bichette, Sanchez, Heathcott, just to name a few. Add Romine and Murphy.

Yes. They need to insure that back is 100% so it doesn't become chronic.

I saw Turley had a blister problem. He needs to get some pickle brine. Is he related to "Bullet" Bob, do you know? Montgomery is striking out hitters at a terrific rate. Let's hope the arm holds up. Agree on Sanchez to AA. Murphy will be OK.

Romine's injury sounds pretty significant. Guess we shall see.

I've followed Montero's progress for at least three years, and there were also some scouting reports that said there were improvements in his game. Why not at least try and be honest? It certainly can't hurt you at this point. I mean, everything you've stated about this trade has proven you wrong. Time to give up. It's okay to be wrong. It just means you're human.

All the reports on his improved defense was from the Yankees, if you can post some of these scouting reports from unbiased sources on his improved defense please do so. All of the independent scouting reports I read on him were that his defense if improving was not nearly good enough to be an everyday catcher.

I know this because I was always looking to see something positive about his defense, I wanted to see good news about him because I wanted to keep him.
