>>"This is not the Flores we saw pre injury."

True, and it's also not the Flores they saw in the winter league in VZ just this past off-season that batted well over .300. Obviously the winter leagues aren't the majors but there are a lot of other major league players in that league who didn't bat nearly that well.

He has to be worn-down and perhaps also nursing at least one of his many hard knocks from this season that is impacting his ability with the bat.

His job first and foremost is to be a catcher. It's not his job to carry the team offensively. If he hits, he hits, if not, oh well as long as he plays great defensively.

Dave, what is with Flores doing the "jitterbug" to create rhythm in the batters-box ????......... W T * ???

You and I both know the only way to create rhythm is to watch 35 episodes of....

.... "The Soooooooooul Traaaaaaaaain" ! ;-)

Okay, asking y'all to think out of the box here...if Spring Training (games) were eliminated or modified perhaps the injuries wouldn't come until LATER into the season???

I can already think of a half-dozen reasons not to can ST, but I can also see a possible upside.

"Dave, what is with Flores doing the "jitterbug" to create rhythm in the batters-box ????......... W T * ???" I was thinking the same thing the FIRST time I saw Flores doing La Cucaracha. Oh well, another season another hopelessly insane looking batting stance in the futile attempt to make a so-so hitter into a great one.

For THAT matter, I sorely wish Morse would get the bat closer to his body...right now he looks like a few of the hookers I've seen in B-more hanging onto bus stop signs to keep themselves "aloft."

Historically ST was the time when players could leave their off season jobs and come to Florida or Catalina Island and get in shape for the season. Now that they don't need off season work and theoretically should be in shape all year I wonder if ST isn't an anachronism?

Like the two minute warning in football-----everyone in the stadium can see the clock---who neeeds to be warned?----and the halftime break-----players only play half the time---who needs a rest anyway?

I honestly haven't noticed, but I'll watch for it in the future.

Scrap,
Here's one for you from what I'm thinking must be from the more recent years of Soul Train before it ended:
