I hope he gets five years out of the Yankees. Then we can visit the Yankee board & see how they feel about 'J' batting .220 & 'earning' about 9 million a year.

"but Martin wants a raise."

I'm sure Yankee fans want a raise too......in Russell Martin's batting average.....

i'm looking for .220s-ish BA this year from J, then we'll see how yankee fans really think.

"who were impressed with his performance in 2011."

I guess they impress easily.

"He suggests Martin could sign for $40MM over four years next offseason."

That's when he'll really dog it. All that money in a city like New York? Too many distractions.

J is a complete joke! Lol really he wants a raise? Give me a break! He'd be a great hitter if the season was 2 months long. April through May.

"i usually find myself rooting for former dodgers, but not this guy. he's a chump- plain and simple."

most of the time i do too. J is my least favorite player in the game though.

the guy i probably pulled for the most after he left was nomar, he was a shell of his red sox days but he was a good dodger.

Looks like you're in the minority here.

Whatever Nomar had left, and even that wasn't nearly what he had with Boston, was spent here. He spent that final year in Oakland but he probably should have retired after 2008.

i agree, i knew he had to go. i was hoping he'd do well with the A's though. even with the injuries here i just liked the guy.
