He is one of my favorite player's on this team and one of the three (well four if you include Clevenger) that I feel good about when they come up to bat, aside from Castro and Barney

Releasing Baker just because he didn't get a hit tonight might be a little harsh...he serves a purpose by being able to back-up at several spots. I would rather see LaHair starting righty or lefty though, he's hot so let him swing it.

"LaHair, Mather and Campana need to be starting every day."

I absolutely agree with Campana and Mather playing everyday! Campana hit .300 against left handed pitching down in Iowa. Mather had a tremendous game tonight: two hits and a walk, including the game winning hit.

LaHair has been struggling against left handed pitching so far this year. But it would be difficult for him to do much worse than Baker has done so far.

"maybe LaHair is struggling against LHP, because he rarely gets to face a LHP. What does he have? 5 at bats vs LHP?"

Then what is the excuse for his entire minor league career?

That explains why he hit .200 off of them in the minors....

How many pitches did he see in that at-bat? I hope the rest of the team was watching. This exactly the value in taking pitches and working a count. Even if LaHair had struck out, he had gotten under Motte's skin, and it really rattled Motte.

It's going to be a long process for the Cubs to get players that are willing to work the count or have the ability to work the count. But I would much rather see an at-bat like LaHair had, even if it results in a strikeout, at least you've made the pitcher work for that out.

How many pitches did Garcia throw? Did he reach 90 pitches? That's the embarrassment to me, that this Cubs team (and the past several seasons) consistently lets the opposing pitcher pitch into the 7th or 8th inning and rarely do they eclipse 90 pitches.

Let's not get carried away. Mather has a career OPS in the 6's. Baker hits lefties better than Mather or anyone else on the Cubs.

Digging deep there buddy to find ways to fulfill that prophecy of doom you forecast about The Hair.

Now it's about facing leftys?

He can't hit lefties, that is a fact that has been proven. That won't be his downfall but it is another flaw

Team leader in RBI?

None other than The Producer (BLH)
