I forgot to add that he is the anti-clutch and grounds out to the first or second basemen 200 times a year, making him one of the highest ground ball candidates in MLB.

I dont see the "winning player" that everyone else seems to see with this guy.

This thread may go and die somewhere thanks to the fanboys that populate this site, but everyone knows I'm right.

You are right. If TLR wasn't the manager, Skippy is a bench player in San Diego.

Thanks. Its hard to get some of these people to take an analytical look at things.

Skip should be a bench player, injuries withdrawn. IF they think he is anything else, then maybe they are in love with more than his game.

I agree. If Schu starts 162 games, he will cost you 5-6. That makes a difference when you are in a race for the Div. title.

"If Schu starts 162 games, he will cost you 5-6."

Skip has been a regular for the past 4 years and has never put up a negative WAR. Consistent hitter, .290 BA/.346 OBP. Great clubhouse guy also. He doesn't come up in the 9th in an April game and you've got your panties in a knot.

As unspectacular as Schumacher is he's still more proven as a major league player then either Descalso or Greene.

Exactly. I like Skip as a 4th OF.

The problem is that he might currently be our best 2B. That's not great.

Skip is a backup OF at best on any ML team.

At least the guy can hit a little. Greene can't hit and his D hasn't been a buttload better than Skips.......observe last night......yes, hit hard, but please, you're standing 4 steps on the grass and your PROFESSIONAL! I've seen beer league softball players at least glove that ball or keep it in front.

Awesome.

Cards batting averages are on a freefall............hurry back Puma.

"Tony finally benched him and they won a Championship"

At what point did #10 bench him?

That's my thought exactly on the Skip vs. Tyler comparison. Tyler can't hit AND apparently plays worse D at 2B than Skip...which I thought was a logical impossibility. Really anyone on here that if they had to pick now, they'd pick Greene?

I'm not trying to be down on Greene, just that he seems to want to work his way off the team when the time comes. I guess Robinson or Carp2 would go before Greene at least. I assume they want to keep Komatsu for Rule 5 reasons, right?

As far as i can remember Skip was very good until he got hurt in the playoffs.

He also won game 5 of the NLDS against Roy Haladay in the first inning last year. The guy is good no doubt about that im not sure why people hate on him so much. Other then him being pretty slow for a small guy.

He might cost you 5-6 games if you bench Dustin Pedroia for him or something.
