    • Finally A Decent 7th Inning Interview

Why would you want them to talk about the game? I'm sure what he/she has to say is more interesting than what the Cubs are doing. "I'm starring in a cool movie but no one wants to hear that...let's watch Soriano bat...oh he struck out again...how exciting!"

Hi Hubbsy,

I agree!! I like his take that the Cubbies are headed in the right direction under Theo!!He also likes Dale as a manager!! I only wish I had remembered he was singing the stretch!! I would've loved to hear Sutcliffe talk w/ Pat & Keith on the radio side!!

Hi Cubssd,

During that clip It was funny to hear Suttclife say the last third strike should've been called a ball!! So, he could throw the next one in the dirt & make him swing!!

Sutcliffe's appearance in the booth was great. He has made me rethink Sveum as manager.
I have been down on Sveum as most have. It was a good guest appearance today...

I'm not a Sveum guy, I think he's made several stupid line-ups/moves this year. But, how can anyone truly gage his skills with this group of misfits?

Hi Rugsy,

That works both ways!! For those calling for his head should consider the team he's working with!! He's done a better job with Rizzo on the team!!

Well, Sutcliffe seems to think that the Cubs have the right person in Sveum. I may have been wrong about him (Sveum) thinking he was useless. But then I remember bad mouthing Dusty Baker when he was managing and look what he has done with the Reds.

Its easy to be positive when your favorite team is winning but boy oh boy when they are in last place and floundering like the Cubs are, it is hard to keep a positive attitude.....I try....

Yes. You know, this is a great game and it can be humbling, at least for me as a fan. Just about the time I think I got it all figured out, I realize I know nothing.

I heard they are going to have that grimey pawnshop owner from Hardcore Pawn on as guest conducter later this year. Unbelievable.

I thought the interview with William Peterson on Friday was good, he talked about growing up a Cub fan and he wasn't really promoting anything.

Most of us act like we know more than we do. Fact is, if place in Sveum's shoes for a week, we'd all be exposed as MB goofs.

Every team has at least 4 announcers. We should only allow them and our own announcers to be interviewed and sing. And a least once a homestand a recording of Harry should be played singing, and I'm sure there is enough material to have Harry comment as if being interviewed.

I have no interest in people coming thru town or local celebs doing the singing.

And his shot onto Sheffield was like the highlight in a meaningful game of the last 30 years.

Still he cost us Joe Carter.

The guest conductor thing doesn't affect me one way or the other. If they keep the tradition, that's fine, and if they ditch it, I'd be good with that too. It's not during the actual playing of the game, and it's really not any better or worse than the Sausage races in Milwaukee, Pierogi race in Pittsburgh, or the Mullett race at the Cell. The part that I can't stand though is the usually painful TV interviews they conduct afterward, WHILE THE FREAKKIN' BALLGAME IS BEING PLAYED! Get rid of the stupid interviews, or limit them to guests who can help maintain the flow of the telecast (such as Sutcliffe), and all is well.

A rarity hubbsy. A rarity.

They still need to do away with the guest 7th inning singsong and associated gabfest. Some of the most brutal live baseball coverage/television in all of sports media. Totally interrupts whats going on the field of play during bottom of 7th. B, JB.

I liked having Sutcliffe in the booth. But COME-ON-MAN! There is still something to be said for a break from the action. I still laugh at remembering Ditka's first appearance. Bill Murray and Bob Ueker and others. I admit if there is some action in the bottom of the inning it's a distraction but it still a nice change when the quest is entertaining.
