From what he said in the press release, it seemed like it was something they knew was coming.

Wow, that's really sad. Uecker has been through a lot in the last couple years. The disease his son died from does sound very bizarre.... Our sympathy goes out to Bob & family.

It said its something thats in the dirt in the south or south or central america. I remember some team in spring training being worried that one of their players had valley fever, which is this. If you catch it right away it seems like its very treatable unless you have a weakened system or it gets in your lungs before you realize what happened.

Really sad. His son should be the one to bury him when it's his time. Praying Bob will get through this.

Condolences to the Ueckers. Terribly sad.
I recall when Dave Nillson had Ross River Fever back in his playing days and it ruined a season for him. These respiratory afflictions seem to be incredibly aggressive. My heart goes out to Bob.
As others have said, burying your children is heartbreaking.
In my prayers...

The player who had it in the MLB last year or the year before only played 30 games before he was out with it the rest of the season. It sounds pretty tough on you.

Uek says he'll still be calling the game today. Man.

Really? Maybe it's an opportunity to get his mind off things.

Wouldn't have blamed him if he took a day or two off.

Yeah I think calling baseball at Miller Park is if anything very familiar to the guy and probably a good place to get away from it all.

Yeah, ditto. Hopefully the guy takes off at least a couple days off soon.
