Just got checked in here in Appleton. We left at 6:30 this morning. A few hundred miles and a couple pit stops later and we were at the Fox Cities field parking lot about 15 minutes before game time.
The wife and kids were with me so not only did I not make as many obsevations as I would have liked, but we ended up leaving after the 7th inning. Tomorrow I will be atteding the game by myself.
Very nice stadium the Timber Rattlers have. A good crowd too. I'm sure tomorrow being a weekday game won't bring as many people.
Obviously Sano is a star attraction. He did not do much. My suspicions were right about how he is being pitched, I would say about 75% breaking balls today. The 1st AB he went down 0-2, a couple waste pitches later and a curve in the dirt he had a full count. He swung at another curve that would've been ball 4 and struck out. The next time up he struck out on 3 pitches, a fastball and 2 curveballs. He ended up poping out and grounding out his next couple at bats.
The Snappers didn't have a lot of really hard hit balls today. The hardest hit was a foul by Adam Bryant. It had the distance but it hooked foul by about 10 feet or less. It was too bad they couldn't take advantage of that strong wind blowing out to left field.
Anyway, the Timber Rattlers won on a walkoff HR in extra innings. I heard that part on the radio in a Wallmart parking lot as I was waiting for my wife to get a couple cheap toothbrushes (It wouldn't be a vacation if we didn't forget a thing or 2).
