Are you too good at the game?

The fact that it is one of the few videogames where I lose just as often as I win keeps me interested.

Madden I consistently go undefeated on the highest difficulty. I can't hit a freaking pitch on pro in the show. Road to the show has eaten up most of my time playing this one.

thats good to hear actually, seems like there is no need to use the 3g then just make sure you dont accidently turn it on. Or just go with the wifi model. I have a psp still. i think it hasnt moved in like two years.

I find it's easier to hit in a day game with cloudy conditions. It's true what they say about the sun and shadows on
a sunny day. Also harder to hit on a night game until the transition to dark hits.

"In related news, I am still god awful at hitting a baseball."

As I get older I can feel myself getting krappier at video games. I started a guy on this game, and after about 200 at bats I couldn't understand why I blew. Then I saw that the default skill level is now all star. Now back on veteran level, my average is rising towards .200! I will give them credit for making the load times much faster this year. You can plow through 4 at bats in about 90 seconds (especially when going all AJ and swinging first pitch fastball).

Thats one thing i like about the xbox, you can download the game to your hard drive and then play, that way loading screens are cut in half, i dont think you can with the ps3, or i just didnt know if you could.

A couple of flaws with my copy. Wonder if it has happened to anybody else.
1) Pinch hitter for the pitcher, but the announcer will still say, 'Why are they letting the pitcher
bat.....
2) DH will come up to bat and they will start talking about Vlad Guerrero, like he is the one
at bat.

Yeah. I had to move down to veteran to even have a shot.

I was fine in A and AA. When I got called up to AAA, I couldn't do anything. I am stuck at around a .180-.200 average.

What I like about the game is slumps feel like slumps when you are really playing baseball. You find yourself thinking "should I guess at this next pitch? Should I cover one half of the plate and give up the other? Should I take until I get a fastball right down the freaking middle?

And just like in real life, a switch flips all of a sudden, and you find yourself seeing the ball. Taking bad pitches, crushing good ones...it's amazing.

Yeah, I cannot imagine what type of demented person can hit the hall of fame setting. And agree 100% on the real life thing. You get on a roll and a few balls fall in, or you are mired in a 1-20 slump and guys are making diving catches the one time you hit it hard.

finally got mine and onto road to the show right away. Cant wait to get to the majors, i went with draft so i was picked by the marlins, kinda made me cringe a little but oh well.

Also i love that you can import your own cheers, jeers and chants for your player. The roommate and I enjoy recording some suprising ones for each other.

Maybe you can give me some insight as to the differences between ROAD TO THE SHOW,
FRANCHISE, SEASON AND RIVALRY on the game?

havent played rivalry so unsure of that. road to the show, you create your own player and bring him up through the minors, you have training points you earn to make your player better. The best part is you will only play when you bat, or when your in the field and a ball will be hit by you. Games are very quick this way, keep in mind you play as one player though.

Season is literally like it sounds, you have one year to win the world series. Franchise your in for the long haul, including picking draft picks, developing players, everything a gm would do plus play the game.

Rivalry is just playing a series. If you have a buddy and want to play a best of 7 or something like that, it keeps all the stats and everything.

Not sure if anybody else has run into this glitch-at the end of the game, I go to bring up the box
score and superimposed in front is part of the screen that you get when you hit the 'start' button
during a game and it shows the hitter and pitcher at the top and the next three batters in order
at the bottom. This is also over the top of the game log. Not sure if this is going to go away as its only been the last two games I played, both St. Louis at Milwaukee. Going to change teams
tonight and see if it still happens.
