It was his slider that gave him problems last year is only partially correct. His machanics went totally off last year. We all saw it and we didn't have a pitching coach who could help him. He has great stuff when he is on. I have never been that sure if he has what it takes but he sure has the stuff. I let April and May come along before i get too concerned. He may be among the missing before the deadline anyhow.

I sure hope they get his mechanics all worked out and he gets his confidence. When he's on that slider is devastating.

The operative word there is "can". He's lost both velocity and movement on his FB (previously posted in another thread) and that is often hard to recover.

"Winning? The Cubs have average win total the last three years is in the 70's."

See, In baseball, when you have a closer pitching, they're typically winning the game.

Well, they have been looking at his delivery from all angles and they can see that his cut fastball always seemed to mess up his mechanics on his other pitches as well. I will have to wait and see if they can fix those problems and make that slider the effective pitch it was in 2010.

Absolutely. I am willing to give Bosio the opportunity to try and fix his mechanics. No sense throwing him away for nothing at this point.

He's now worth less than nothing. Might as well try to fix him now.

Everyone knows you don't throw sliders and curves this early. You work on long tossing and throwing from behind the mound. Once his arm gets stronger, then he will start mixing it up. Throwing curves and sliders will only hurt his arm and he would have to rest it. Don't want him starting the season with a sore arm or shoulder.

Soto needs to do a better job at watching the way his pitchers are throwing the ball on the mound. He should tell his pitchers if they are falling off the mound to one side or not. He needs to watch their hands, feet, body, and follow through so he can tell the pitching coach what the pitcher is doing wrong. He beds to come out to the mound more often if he sees something that's not working. Also, I hope soto does a better job at calling games this year.

I'd wait until meaningful game action to give up on him...

Don't worry and give him a chance, he'll probably keep his ERA under 12.00 for the season.

It doesn't really matter at this point. He has no trade value. At least before ST, there was a small air of mystery about Marmol and his potential to return to his 2010 form.

Well, hopefully he can put something together so they can get something of value for him.

I disagree. He is working on his mechanics and the idea that we have to see immediate results is silly.

You harp on this guy all across the board, regardless of what his opinion truly is... Why?
Marmol is working on a new approach...
He is working on mechanics...
Why judge him so brashly? I understand the frustration with Marmol and the desire to see the closer excel. It makes sense, but to attempt to discredit a poster with any slight of optimism toward a player who struggled, or is struggling, is puzzling at best.

Windangit appears to me as a fan... He appears to understand the purpose of ST and while I don't agree with all his stances, I don't understand your pursuit against him

We need a Marmol-O-Meter on this board.

I'm for Marmol to try the Lee Smith approach...
Rear back and throw fastballs...
The cutter ain't working...
