If you're trying to build a bigger lead or claw your way back in the game ...I'd agree but if you lead off a game with a double, you should go for the jugular right away ...take a chance ...try to open the flood gates early. The Campana 1st inning bunt makes no sense whatsoever to me.

Not sure why Dale doesn't lead off with Campana, bat DeJesus 2nd who has good patience at the plate that will allow Campana to get himself into scoring position and hits a lot of balls in the gap .
Hopefully he'll wake up and see this.
Campana is in the line up to get on and steal bases and he's been getting on at a decent clip, but it's hard to steal when pitches aren't being taken.
I don't want Castro to change the way he hits so Dale needs to change the line up.

I have no problem with Castro and his hitting, I don't want him to change a thing.
I don't want him to start taking pitches so Campana can steal.
I think the way you solve that is lead off with Campana hit DeJesus 2nd and keep Castro where he is in the 3 spot.

I agree, I think DeJesus would handle Campana on base alot better than Castro. Also with Campana's slap hits and bunts, defenders have been just throwing out the runner in front of Campana and not even wasting their time with him. With the weakers bottom of the line up, Campana is less likely to get people out and defenders have to completely focus on him. DeJesus is much more likely to get Campana to advance than vice versa. Also as the number 2 hitter, DeJesus will still be able to get on for Castro and LaHair to hit him in for a run. It's also important for the number 2 hitter to be patient and other teams like the Braves and Dodgers have quick players leading off, even if they have better players at getting on base.

Yep, there is less likely to be a guy on base in front of him with the 8 and pitcher hitting ahead of him and driving in runs isn't his strong suit.
And you'd prefer to have him get on when he has room to run.
We've had DeJesus getting a lot of doubles lately and Campana giving away at bats to get him to 3b.
Plus the guy hitting behind Campana is going to see a lot of fastballs and it really doesn't benefit Castro a whole lot because he hits everything anyway.
It might benefit DeJesus more.
I see way more advantages in going with Campana /DeJesus than I do DeJesus/Campana

You are right about Campana at 8th. If he's a regular but he goes to the bench when Rizzo arrives unless there is an injury or two.

Actually it's the opposite - Campana cannot hit in front of Castro.

Castro and DeJesus need to change places in the line up. DeJesus has been slugging over .500 in May, so he should bat third. Castro would be free to swing away and to steal bases at will as the Cubs leadoff hitter. DeJesus would be patient behind Campana while being on base a lot in front of LaHair as the Cub's number three hitter.

Castro and Campana at the top of the Cub's line up would be a nightmare for opposing pitchers.
