Exactly. He was almost anti-clutch. When the pressure is on, he presses and he looks bad.

But when the pressure is off...man. He can be a terror.

Has he EVER had a .222 average??? No this isn't typical Pujols...there's definitely something wrong.

His average in the last 10 games is a mere .200...

The only thing I can think of is he isn't used to AL pitchers and maybe he has to get to know them. In St.Louis we always heard how he would study video constantly of pitchers...so maybe that's part of the problem. If it isn't then this could be a disaster.

Nah, man, he had a could of BAD slumps last year, and he was streaky the few years before that. It's just that this time he opened the season with a slump, and no previous good month to buffer and make the numbers look better.

I think he's just pressing. He's trying to live up to that contract, and since God told him to play in Anaheim, he's probably trying to avoid angering the Almighty, which has to be even MORE pressure.

Plus, apparently he's living at Lozano's house, which has to be somewhat awkward. He just needs some time to acclimate.

This season will turn around, and I expect next season will be near .300/30/100. Maybe a little below, but not too much below.

He has started to slack off in the past few years but wow..not this much. It's like watching a different guy out there.

I think this is just the continuation of the trend started a few years ago with the added pressure of trying to be both Albert Pujols in front of some new people AND prove he's worth the $240 million AND not prove God wrong with His instruction to switch teams.

One he settles down those numbers will shoot up. And he's going to victimize some poor Royals/As/Mariners/Orioles #5 starter for a couple dingers in a game. Probably more than once.

Has he ever been in the lineup everyday and not take a day off while on a slump this bad?

Our team does not need a a carrier but a streaky guy here and there, certainly would help!

We just cannot afford our 3 hitter to disappear for 3 weeks....

I keep telling you guys, spring training means nothing. You can win all the games and still finish last. You can lose all the ST games and win the WS. If you count on spring training stats to mean something, you don't know baseball.

Before the season started, that's all you guys talked about. How he was going to hit 40 HRs, bat .350, break all kinds of records.

And the fact that you're borderline-gloating about his failures shows how disappointed you were when he left the Cards. You're relieved he's <sucking. Admit it.

He's never had a slump this bad so, no, he's not taken a day off because of one. It's usually difficult to get him out of the lineup in the past. LaRussa had to be persistent.

I'm disappointed we weren't stuck with his failings? Your logic escapes me. I prefer to say I told you so and I was right. I said he would bat .239 and not many HRs back before spring training. Not a bad guess so far, eh?

That's not what I said - try reading again. My point was that your trolling is due to a completely obvious relief that he's off to a bad start. You wouldn't be here applauding his efforts if he had 10 HRs right now. And I'm sure that prediction of yours came right after the World Series win when you kissed your Pujols jersey and vowed to wear it for the next 10 years of his time with the Cardinals.

Funny how, when one speaks the truth here, it's called "trolling". Even when one is right. Cardinal fans know Pujols and a number of us warned you guys not to expect the same thing we had for 11 years. Instead of listening and learning, you called us bitter and trolling. And now that the truth hurts, you don't want to hear anymore about it, or even admit that maybe we were right.

Yes, the post you made AFTER he signed with the Angels. Are you -trying- to prove my point?

Obviously you think you have a point to prove. My point was made and proven. We were right and you don't want to hear about it.

Don't know how true it is, but a friend (a Phillies fan) theorizes that Pujols isn't doing well because it means something. Evidently, he plays better when a team has a big lead...which of course is bad news playing for the Angels.

The slump is paramount in nature. I have never seen anything like it... just sayin... He is 0 for ... every night...scary.
