I am also a pretty happy person. Is this a fluke?

Silly me. I always thought that most wars were fought over natural resources, such as land, water, oil, timber, gold, etc.. Even the crusades were fought about land, in that case, the Holy Land.

Civil wars within countries tend to get fought over religion, as various religious/ethnic groups vie for power. But wars between countries tend to be fought over natural resources.

**I tend to think that you do practice a religion, it may not be an organized one, but
it is yours...**

Hm, I don't know what that means. I don't think I practice any "religion," in any definition of the word.

**Something atheists seem bent on destroying, a persons right to choose.**

Can you provide specific examples of this?

That is very poetic, but what does it mean? It seems like you're trying to say that one can be happy, yet not happy. Or unhappy, yet happy. Which doesn't make much sense at all.

Yes. I think I'm happy... because I am.

When people start telling you how you feel or think then its time to end the conversation. Pretty sad that people feel the need to use this tactic to argue their case.

I think you are correct in saying that, but even than in many of the cases there
was a secondary cause and it was religion.....WWII - Germany went to war against
those of Jewish and Christian faith....we fought in Korea and Nam to stop communism,
and communism is both a religion and an economic system....
The middle east has been fighting for years over land and religion....

religion can be a system or a matter of conscience....you can worship money,
your job, your position, you can worship your independence of not having a religion.....

<,Most people who claim to be saved really aren't>>

I got saved from a lifetime of non-critical thinking, non-evidence-based reasoning, and a penchant for believing any old nonsense anyone tells me.

So, call me "saved".

How about any religious artifact placed on public land. I have yet to hear of one case where the government forced anyone to look at, read or pray to any of these items. If public grounds are to be treated as neutral sites, then there should be bans on all things that might offend someone.

It's not about "offending people", it's about secular government not sanctioning one cult over another.

cdurden hit it on the head. Religion was ok when we didnt know any better.

As a former religious Protestant turned flaming atheist, I think it is time that people realize religion is a scam and an invisible man didnt create everything.

"If you have to ask..."

See, that's the problem, wil. When it comes to religion one HAS to ask....Ask about the Holocaust (and why any Ju is religious today is amazing to me), ask about all the crime, poverty, war, etc, and we get hit with platitudes like "God's Will" or "Have Faith" or "God Works in Mysterious Ways."

Believe what you will, My Man. But keep your eyes and mind open-dont take everything your minister or priest says at face value.

It's the other way around pal. Except for a few who have to go to court to sue the government over putting "In God We Trust" on currency or in courthouses, most of us just dont want religious people judging us or shoving their ideas down our throats or telling us we will go to H-E-Double Hockey sticks
if we dont believe what they do.

Believe what you will AND LEAVE US THE HECK ALONE!

Ask about the Holocaust, war crime, etc. etc.
That is the beauty of religion, there is very few that believe God has his hand
in everything that happens, that God has a plan for each of us, that his plan for
me is to believe in him and his son and his plan for you is to try and tell me that
it is a scam.....God lets us make choices, and that is why things like 9/11 and the
Holocaust take place....it's not God's will or God's plan, it is humans making bad
choices....that will continue to happen.....
Have a good day, and God Bless.....

I've had evidence that God exists, surely most people haven't.
