It's hard to believe Cecil fell so far so quickly. The fact that he seemed fine with this effort is pretty alarming. I think him and Adam Lind share the same brain.

With the organizational depth we have and the way Cecil has performed, it's time to give others a look and Jenkins does make a lot of sense. Let Cecil EARN his way back. He hasn't done much to inspire any confidence in him whatsoever.

Yeah, but I still think throwing Jenkins out there makes little sense. Just give a few starts to Perez and throw Crawford in the pen.

I wouldn't mind Perez filling in the 5 hole for a bit. He's started in the minors, and has a good fastball with amazing groundball rates and he's seen the big leagues more than Jenkins. Not sure about his durability though, there must be a reason the Jays put him in the pen.

Also what do you guys think about Carreno? He's a starter in the minors...

I disagree. I don't think Cecil is really that vital. If drabek sticks, we have plenty of options for that fifth spot. This offense is going to score a lot of runs and we have a rock solid pen (on paper). If the top 3 live up to expectations this team should be fine. Cecil really wasn't going to be a big part of our future anyways with the type of high upside depth on the way.

Well he's not particularly good but he probably won't embarrass us out there.

I'm so glad that Zach Stewart and Marc Rzep were "spare parts", and that the club had faith in guys like Cecil.

Luckily it seems that this organization is done with entitlements. Players now need to actually earn their way. Who wants provide a convincing argument as to how Cecil has earned his way on this team? There's no use wasting time on failed pitchers. There's so many minor league guys that deserve a chance. Farrell's comments are certainly positive. It's also amazing how Cecil claims to have had a good day. Those are pretty contradicting statements.

Give Cecil the first month, he deserves at least that. I'm honestly surprised how much even the better posters on here are overreacting to spring training.
