Shaw runs into Smith and he goes down like he was shot. Can't wait to see how many minutes he gets for that. I'm sure probably a double minor rough will happen. BAH...

Like I said, now Smith is up and going to stay in. Smith plays it out long enough that the officials give Shaw a major and game misconduct after seeing how long Smith is down.

Shaw didn't charge Smith. It was incidental contact. ^#$%&$*#$@

I knew exactly how it was going to go too. Smith acts like a drama queen for a few minutes then he's up and staying in fine.

Now of course the Coyotes capitalize again. Let's hope that's the only one they get on this PP

Bulls**t is right bleed

Smith got better after they took Shaw off the ice. Notice that?

Charging is skating into a check. They're supposed to stop skating before the hit comes. That whole situation was BS. Now we lose Shaw whose been one of the Hawks better players lately. I don't usually b*tch about the refs ruining a game but they're doing their best to decide this one.

Yeah he milked that situation for sure. Now you can tell the Hawks are really fired up. Maybe this will do them some good.

Since Smith stayed in the game, IMO there shouldn't be a game misconduct for the play.

Here is the NHL rule on charging

There definitely wasn't intent to injure and I thought the worst he would get was 4 minutes. Thank heavens they only scored one goal but the stupid refs get a D grade from me so far.

"However, incidental contact, at the discretion of the Referee, will be permitted when the goalkeeper is in the act of playing the puck outside his goal crease provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact."

I unfortunately can not say Shaw made the best effort to avoid it.. so there should have been a minor or major... but like you said...

"42.5 Game Misconduct Penalty - When a major penalty is imposed under this rule for a foul resulting in an injury to the face or head of an opponent, a game misconduct shall be imposed."

There ended up NOT being an injury, so the game misconduct is BS.

"A goalkeeper is not “fair game” just because he is outside the goal crease area. The appropriate penalty should be assessed in every case where an opposing player makes unnecessary contact with a goalkeeper. However, incidental contact, at the discretion of the Referee, will be permitted when the goalkeeper is in the act of playing the puck outside his goal crease provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact."

as much as i hate to say it ,it was the right call...he made no effort to avoid contact even if it wasnt intentional..

anyone see what went on in the sens - rangers game??..holy sheet
