Comparing death to the Astros losing 100+ games is a horrible comparison. Why would you even go in that direction?!

You're missing the point entirely. Read the first sentence of my post again. The point is that just because a person has resigned themselves to something doesn't mean they want it to happen. My sister just got her wisdom teeth pulled yesterday, all four of them. She sure a heck didn't want to have to go through that, but just because she didn't that didn't mean she was just going to go around and pretend it wasn't going to or didn't need to happen. The point was that the logic of your post was bad; you're basically saying that anyone who doesn't believe in this team is a "so-called" fan and that they WANT this team to do badly.

You assume too much. Acknowledging the likelihood of another poor season or two is NOT a desire to see them do poorly. It is the difference between rational thought and irrational emotion.

There is a place for both. They are not mutually exclusive. Just think of it as rooting for the underdog. It is impossible unless BOTH are happening simultaneously.

Would you rather see this team go 81-81 every season for the next 10 years, and never make the playoffs? Or would you rather endure a few ugly 95+ loss seasons in the hope that they lead to a brighter future? Spending a bunch of seasons stuck in neutral, winning just enough games to be respectable but losing too many to make the postseason is no way for a team to function. That's exactly why the Rockets have been so underwhelming the past few years.

I'd love to see the Astros win every game, but the reality is that they're not going to be a legitimately competitive team anytime soon. There's zero benefit to them hovering around .500 at this juncture, but there is a tangible benefit (draft position) to losing a few more games. I never root against the Astros, I just don't mind that much when they lose (for that reason).

I know they're off to a bad start, but I think there's too much talent, both in the Majors and Minors, for the Royals to not stay out of the bottom five this year. Cubs, Astros, Twins, Padres and Mets would be my pick to finish in the bottom five once it's all said and done.

If you can guarantee the Astros will be a winning team after 3 100 loss seasons, I would still rather show gradual improvement. You can't guarantee anything... Losing 100 games and getting top picks doesn't mean this team will improve in 3 years...

The best thing for this team to do is keep getting better each of the next 3 seasons. Then, the GM can add the right free agents, and push this team into the playoffs. Either way, there are no guarantees, but I would rather watch a team that improves each of the next 3 seasons...

The Rockets are a whole different story. The current NBA draft set up is a joke. They have more problems than I care to discuss tonight. The Rockets have done what they need to do... other than signing a superstar player... That will be Morey's biggest failure, IMO!

Yea, it boggles the mind., They whine constantly for the young guys to play and now that we have a group of young guys playing,they want them to stink so they can get more young guys. For what? So they can stink too?

I understand the need to rebuild the farm system. However, there is no need to lose 100 games per season in the process. We might as well move to Pittsburgh... LOL

Agreed. Let's root for wins. If we lose 100 along the way, woo-hoo we get 1-1. If we compete for the wildcard this year, even better. As much as I didn't like Drayton in the final years, you gotta love the attitude of champions or nothing. People act as if that's a bad thing. Now I wouldn't make business decision based on that philosophy, but why not root for it as a fan?

It's not bad to be positive. Fans were just tired of Drayton giving us lip service and insulting our intelligence. The Astros could be 10 games out with 11 to play, and you'd hear champions talk. It got old.

Then, I'm sorry, but you're a short-sighted fool. Only a fool would want a couple more ultimately-meaningless wins in a year where we won't compete instead of being able to draft a potential ten-year superstar. The team can improve (young players developing and gaining experience) without it showing up in the W-L column.
