i want to keep turner and i wouldnt trade gee a competent starter for a middle reliever. the truth is i dont see sandy making a big trade until the offseason when he might. at this point i think he will get someone like grant balfour, maybe. but he has to be diligent and see what a guy like gee might bring, you never know. the way these guys are playing right now, you want to be careful about messing with team chemistry. i would only trade gee for a big piece. you can never have enuf pitching.

i only suggest Turner because of what i perceive as a position of some depth in the org. being second base....with Murphy,Cedeno,Quintanilla,Valdespin, and even Havens and Flores we've got potential depth there...Turner has some talent, could be a good utility player if not a starter for some teams

i have nothing against Gee at all,he's a battler, but i'm not sure he's a part of our long term plans...i wouldn't trade him for a 3 month rental but in a situation like this where we could get a reasonably young (29) set up man and a catcher with some pop that we'd have control over for the next 3 years or so with reasonable contracts i think it'd be worth it

but i actually agree with you on what might truly happen and picking up a guy like Balfour on the cheap might be all that Sandy is able to accomplish

yeah,Doumit may be defensively challenged but our catching is very offensively challenged and our best defender is Mike Nickeas who can't hit a lick

no ideal situation in either case (unless Yadier Molina falls into our laps, lol)

good point and i think it's been touched upon somewhere above

i don't think Doumit would be made available unless we offered a strong enough package and Gee,Edgin, and Turner or Marte might not be enough....we'd be taking back salary/payroll and they'd be getting inexpensive, young players in return but it might not entice them

it's a deal that has little chance of happening(like every single deal i've ever proposed!) as i've laid out here but IMO it's the type of deal i think we should look into with the general principle being deal from positions of depth in the organization for positions of need

trade quint, keep turner, the mets are low on righthanded hitters. i agree with your thoughts on gee and i do like him but would also trade him in the right deal.

>Yeah, I doubt that will happen. Mike Napoli will be a free agent next year, however.<
