I did tell why I think the team is so terrible - the front office, specifically their evaulation of talent. I pointed to all the bad #1 draft choices, signings like Buck, etc. I've posted that 9 years without the playoffs is too long and other teams have fired their GMs with similar dry runs, and that we should do the same. I've also called Ozzie an idiot for all the garbage he says and that he's a joke that nobody takes seriously.
I've posted lots of anti-Loria stuff, not so much with the ballpark deal but more with the revenue sharing money, his meddling, and the stuff he did in Montreal.
Does any of that count for posting reasons why the team s#cks? Or does it only count when you type in all caps?
On the other hand, I don't think Ozzie's in-game managing matters a whole lot, or that he'd get fired for it. I don't think his in-game managing is particularly good, just that it doesn't matter.
As far as the coaching, beats me if Perez and St. Claire are good or not. If they're bad, then how do you explain Stanton and Ceshak? If they're good, how do you explain Hanley and Nolasco? Of the two, I'm probably more anti-Perez because I think he got the job through nepotism rather than merit and the starting pitching was pretty solid for the first half of the season.
However, I'm not constantly anti-front office. Beinfest has done some good things too - Stanton was a great draft pick. Some of their small pickups have turned out well, like Uggla and Ross and Ruggiano. On the whole, I think Beinfest has done a bad job and should be fired but because I'm not 100% negative and make every post a rant about Ozzie or Loria or the coaches, then I'm a "front office lover."
Here's the problem with thinking everybody s#cks - if it's the players that are so bad, then you can't expect Ozzie to win with them. If the players are good, and it's Ozzie holding them back, then Beinfest has done well with getting players and just needs to get rid of Ozzie to start winning, and for all we know Ozzie could be a Loria special.
Different subject - I don't think Solano is going to be any good. You do. I have a reason for thinking he'll be no good - he was no good in the minors. Do you have any reason to think he will be good other than he's not Hanley? Can you name any other hitter with a lifetime .633 minor league OPS who was good in the majors? Same thing with Hayes - didn't you think Hayes was much better than Buck simply because he's not Buck? Buck is terrible; Hayes is worse (and is now in the minors).
BTW - how do you know Ligero? I didn't think you posted when he was here. GhettoGod has made less than 10 posts, some just making fun of the uniforms. Why are you such a supporter of somebody who has never posted? Or do you agree that GhettoGod is another screen name for JoeBatz, Ligero, Robusto, CigarGuy, etc?
BTW2 - why do you care about the money handed to Loria by Miami? If Miami hadn't handed Loria that money, the Marlins would be in San Antonio. And besides, don't you live in Boynton or something? How would Miami tourist tax money that was required to go to sports teams affect you? I hate the idea that Loria gets anybody's tax money and would love if they found something illegal that he'd done but I can't help it that the politicians in Miami were idiots; if anything it makes me happy I don't live in Dade county.
