Albert putting some space between himself & Young King James. Pujols went 2-2-2-4 w/ a walk in their game against the Rockies in Colorado. He hit his 9th homer. He might get to bat again. It's only the top of the seventh. Now at .254-9-36.

That Mike Trout is a serious stud. Having that kind of talent around you has to help. He's 5-3-3-2 today, playing centerfield. He's stolen two bases, for 13 on the year. He's batting .349-5-24 in 38 games.

Albert flew out to the warning track in left. Torii Hunter tagged up from second & barely beat Cargo's throw to third. He then scored on an out by Trumbo. 11-5 Angels going into the bottom of the 8th.

June 9 Update:

Albert is on a hot streak. Since there is such a difference in plate appearances between the two players, I have added a line into my tracking spreadsheet. That is the projected stats for James if he had the same number of plate appearances as Albert.

________ GP_ AB__ R_ H__ 2B__3B__HR__ RBI_ TB__ BB__ SO_ SB_ CS__ BA__ OBP_ SLG_ OPS
James:__ 59_ 180_ 16_ 46__ 13__ 0__ 2___19___ 65__ 20___ 24__ 0__ 3__ .256_ .330_ .361_ .691
Projected:_________21_60__17___0__3___25____84__26___31

Albert:___ 59_ 233_ 27_ 59__ 15__ 0__ 9___ 36__ 101__ 20___ 29__ 3__ 0__ .253_ .307_ .433_ .741

At this date, James still has an edge in doubles (projected), BA & OBP, while Albert has an edge in HR, RBI, SLG & OPS. For the moment, it seems that Albert has more power, but otherwise, James still has the advantage. IF the current trends continue, Albert could come out on top.

I predict Albert has more homers by the All-Star break than Loney has all year. That's if he doesn't break his leg or anything.

That could be close, but I think you have a safe prediction there.

5-3-2-0 for Albert today. He got his 16th double. Now batting .256-9-36. Trout went 5-2-2-0 w/ his 10th double. Now batting .350-5-24. Trumbo went 3-2-2-6 w/ 2 walks, & two homers. Now batting .326-14-39.

Loney went 4-1-1-1. It was a single. Now batting .255-2-20.

I see that you have 4 posts. Where were you, Albert fan, from the beginning of the season?

"choke on fat alberts salary"

I rarely even think of the angels, but I'm really going to enjoy watching that contract and roster spot hang on that franchise like a rotting apple on a tree.

He seems to pulling away from Loney in that stat. I hope James has noticed.

Albert posted 3-2-2-4 w/ his 11th homer in a 12-5 win over the Giants. He also walked twice. He's batting .258-11-43 / .316 / .446 / .762 in 68 games.

Trout went 4-4-4-0 w/ a walk. He had two doubles. He's batting .337-6-27 / .397 / .532 / .929 w/ a league leading 19 SB's in only 47 games.

Trumbo posted 5-2-3-5 w/ his second triple. He's batting .326-16-47 / .380 / .629 / 1.009 in 60 games.

Most of that carnage WAS against Barry Zito, so we have to take it with a grain of salt. Barry went 3.1 innings, allowed nine hits {both of Trout's doubles, & Albert's homerun}, three walks, & eight earned runs.

Loney posted 4-0-0-0 & grounded into a DP. He's batting .257-2-21 / .324 / .351 / .676 w/ 8 GIDP's in 223 PA's.
