Span had three chances to drive in runs tonight and blew them all........

Yep, he blew it. That being said 6 runs should still be enough. You can't have pitching this pathetic.

I noticed. And it pisses me off. Especially when you are facing one of the better set up guys in the league knowing you have the best closer in history in the next inning. If Parmalee would have bunted valencia over Burroughs would have had an Rbi.

Let's not get Granderson out now. Just let him get a hit every time.

5-8 would have sounded a lot more hopeful than 4-9. Especially with Tampa and Boston next.

How about we score some runs off this guy? He's only been dominating the league for nearly 20 years. He's due for a meltdown.

Rivera's only been throwing that cutter forever now. Yet nobody can figure it out.

It's tough to win games when your starter gives up 6 innings and gets pulled in the third.

I plan on never seeing Swarz starting ever again for this team.

Who is going to though? Swarzak-terrible. Marquis-teribble. Liriano-terrible. Blackburn-will revert to being terrible sooner or later. Pavano and Hendriks are the only guys who can seem to get outs with any sort of consistency.

Going to be a LONG season.

Being bad is one thing. Giving up 6 runs in 2.2 innings is just horrible.

As long as our hitting is good we can deal with giving up 3-5 runs a night.

overall, i'm satisfied with 2/4. not happy though because we really could have won all 4 and really should have won tonight. outside of a decent outing by pavano, the starting pitching was a trainwreck. kudos to the offense for bringing the bats in this series. i can't remember the last time the offense knocked the ball around yankee stadium. and they did so to just about anyone the yankees threw at them. really excited to see what the bats can do this year.

that starting pitching is just insufferable. it's not even so much that they were bad, it's that they never pitched the way a big leaguer is supposed to pitch when he's given some run support. to give some or all of the runs back in the bottom of the inning is just crushing to the other 8 guys on the field. really disappointing, but given our usual struggles in NY, it's somewhat satisfying

Like I said earlier, as expected our pitching ST iN ks......in this game the guys you expect to rip the ball when runs were plentiful( Mauer, Morneau and Willingham) never showed up. A guy that can usually put a ball in play with men in position (Span) hiccups three times. I guess a split in NY is still a surprise though.
