If you read that 2nd tweet it said that a corresponding move will come tomorrow (today).

Of course Fredi could have been misquoted but the way his statement read was that he had no intention of demoting JJ. Had he known beforehand he would have likely given a vague quote about how "we will continue to evaluate the club on a daily basis", etc. Believe what you want but the guy is really a poor manager.

Are they winning in spite of him or because of him? I think the former.

In this case...realists.

BTW, I never, never called for Bobby to be axed. Not once.
But, I am not thrilled with Fredi at all.

I was the same way. I usually defended Bobby.

"Haters gonna hate."

Yep, you've been hating on everything I say since late last season. I don't even post in your Goat of the game and player of the game threads any longer because you singled out my votes to make snarky comments about.

Why don't you comment on the zillions and zillions of times I defend players, coaches, etc. to the over-reactionary group around here?????????? The one person I think needs to go and I'm a "hater"....yeah, right.

Goodbye.

good post, I agree that this is the right move at this time

let JJ take a step back and not have to worry about proving anything, just work on his stuff. He never blew people away anyway, he just needs to work on his location and pitching smart.

...Im not an expert, but maybe they can tweak his delivery or something simple. You never know, something small can go a long way.

"Now the question is what effect will this have on his future as a Brave, I mean this will have a negative impact on arbitration for him right?"

He's making 5.5M this year and you don't go backwards in salary through arbitration, so he would make at least that next season if he was offered arbitration. Obviously, unless he turns it around in a hurry he'll be non-tendered......maybe he can rebuild his value enough that we can trade him.

A proper move - but have to admit, never thought it would happen.

What I was afraid of, was that the knee injury would effect his mechanics, and it looks like it has. Could cause permanent damage to knee and arm, ala Dizzy Dean. This is not a demotion but an aid to get better. If it was Wren's decision, kudos to him.

I'm surprised they handled it this way. Not that it is a bad way to handle it, just thought it would be a DL stint and extended ST. I guess they want him going right back into games at AAA. I don't know what that is going to serve though. He doens't need more game experience, he needs video and sessions with a good pitching coach to get back to form before pitching in any games.

JJ's problem is his mechanics. When he lands on that left leg he has a hitch and it pops his entire torso upwards. When the body is moving up and the arm is coming down it is causing a flat ball. I don't know why it's happening. I suspect it's the brace though. It would make sense because it may not be allowing the knee to flex like it should and has in the past. I don't think it is going to be something as easy as changing arm slot either.

This could very well be the end of Jurrjens Braves career. If he can't land on his leg with the brace and can't pitch without it then they may 60-day DL him to let it fully regain the necessary strength to pitch again. If that's the case then we just lost one of our best pitchers of the last 4 seasons because they won't offer arby and he will walk. I hope he doesn't leave with only 47 Braves wins under his belt.

Definitely way too much to pay him considering all of our options at SP for next season. I'm sure he'll have a good attitude going down to AAA and maybe he can turn things around.
