I really like Revere But!!!...... No arm + no power = no right fielder.

Good news, Mauer did a great job actually turning on a ball for the sac fly to right. Bad news, great example of warning track power. I got a kick out of his 3" ground ball to the catcher the other night. He took a full swing and the ball actually traveled less than a foot.

For me, revere is currently doing what he has to do to make it so his bad arm and total lack of power arent a factor. That said, i am not sure he will continue that long term.. hope he does and i continue to look bad for doubting the guy

Next thing. i totally misread the title and thought it said "I really like revere's butt!!"

Yes he is...with that, one thing I have noticed this year that happened last year and it has yet to occur this year...when Revere is at the plate the opponents rarely take away the short floating line drive about half way between the infield and where the outfielders usually play. Once, teams again realize that Revere has very infrequent power they will or should adjust their outfielders in to cut off those short hits.

I've been impressed with Revere but he's pretty much going to have to hit around .330 if he wants to be in the lineup everyday in the future. Still think he'd make a great 4th OF but i'm glad to know he no longer looks like a "bust".

Being honest, Revere has definitely been playing good enough baseball since his last call up. He's batting over .300, he's running the bases good, and he's making lots of catches in the outfield, but his weak arm hasn't really cost the teams (m)any runs from what I have seen.

I agree with everyone's concerns about whether or not he can play like this long term, but so far he's been playing fantastic considering his weak arm and lack of power. I really have no complaints at all.. He's definitely been one of the best players since his call up.

IMO, he needs to get better on the basepaths. he needs to take the extra base his speed should allow him to take. I'm talking about situations where he's on 1st and can't seem to get to 3rd on an OF single to RF or when he's on 1st and can't score on a double to the wall. He's playing well, but he's a young kid who still has some things he really needs to work on.

He also needs to walk more. Look at his BA and then his OBP. His OBP is about where it needs to be right now (or higher) for a guy like who has no power. Thing is, his BA is very likely well above where his BA will normally hover. If we give him the benefit of the doubt and say he'll be a .290-.300 batter, with his OBP only being 22 points higher, now it's a problem....cause he's not getting on base near enough.

Of course, he's young and will hopefully get even better, but these are things worth watching.

Again, IMO.

Revere would be ok in a solid major league lineup as a Cesar Tovar type player. This year's version of the Twins is looking for anyone who can fog a mirror and catch a ball at the major league level and hopefully stay around the .400 winning %. If the roster was anything like it should be, Revere wouldn't be a topic of discussion.

I have a hard time imagining Revere playing several positions. It seems logical for him to be a 2nd baseman but I have no idea how his skill sets would translate there. In fact, there must be some reason why they haven't been serious about having him transfer to the infield.

I think the organization believes he has a tremendous amount of value. He'll probably be unfairly viewed as being a key contributor much in the way Nick Punto was. He was a first round pick and knowing the way this organization does things they will stubbornly cling to anything positive when it comes to this kid.

I will acknowledge that he is looking pretty good right now, but I will also remind people that so did Lew Ford for about half a season. Let's see how Revere holds up to the grind before we start annointing him. If you listen to the guys in the booth you'd think he is a superstar in the making.

Interestingly, Revere's WAR is 2.2 this year as opposed to 0.7 last year. The thing I take away from this is that Revere may have poor rARM (-4 both years) but his quickness and ability to make consistent contact at the plate balance him out. He's helping us now, and even if his offense regresses, he's still not really costing us any games.

I don't believe I did. I try and watch as many games as I can, but I play ball Monday nights, which is probably why I missed it. Either way, he's a young guy, he's going to make mistakes. I know that and so do you, so there's no point in pointing out every mistake he makes as if it actually proves anything.

I'm skeptical about his long term performance and pretty much have been since day one. I was a big Valencia fan.. look where he is. What about the 1995 AL Rookie of the year Marty Cordova? What happened to him? I've just been giving Revere guy the benefit of the doubt lately (I wasn't in the past), he's definitely been playing better since his last call up than in the past. Obviously he has a lot to learn and will make mistakes along the way.. nobody bats .1000.

Look on the bright side, at least he hasn't been thrown out at home twice this year from trying to get an inside the ball park home run. :)
