Would be nice, but I think the Astros are drafting Appel.

Correa would be a reach IMO with Zunino available; better bat, more advanced, higher offensive upside, and he plays an even more premium position.

Correa looks like a nice player. But if the Astros were going to take a high school player, why not just go with the top talent available in Buxton?

This is probably a moot point, though, since it's looking like Appel will be the pick.

Would drafting Correa be like a redo on drafting Mier? I'm a little wary of that.

Correa's bat profiles much better than Mier's did at the same age, but he's not likely to stick at shortstop. If we were picking at #7 or thereabouts, I'd consider taking him.

Carlos Correa is not a reach, he's is a top 5 player right now , with 6'4 frame he can add muscle, he reminds of Alex Rodriguez, he will be an All Star player for many years.

Buxton or Zunino IMO. I'd stay away from any of the other hitters.

He has less offensive upside than Buxton and Zunino, and he's not likely to stay at SS. Yes, he would be a reach.

And the A-Rod comparison is ludicrous. If A-Rod had stayed at SS, you'd be talking about him as the best SS in history since Honus Wagner. Correa's upside isn't even in the neighborhood.

I don't think Correa's uspide is lower than Zunino. The kid is 17, and I have read he has the 2nd highest upside to Buxton.

Any scout will tell you that Correa has far more offensive upside than Zunino. It's just that his likelihood of reaching it is smaller.

What I have read is that you must consider that level of competition that both Buxton and Correa face when evaluating them..

Carlos Correa is a smart kid with 4.0 GPA, hard worker, very motivated young SS, who wants his family to have a better life, latin players are very motivated by living a hard life.

Trey Williams is falling from the 1st round, so is Nick Williams both would be steals in the 2nd round hopefully Astros are keeping an eye out on this.

I just want the Astros to at least pay attention to Carlos Correa, this Astros front office is open minded on all players, which is nice to see, nice to hear they are "blown away"

While hindsight is 20/20.... I still believe you guys will regret not taking Buxton if that is what you decide to do and go with Appel or someone else.

this year its really a toss up no bryce harper or stephen strasburg, just a bunch of mostly unknowns,

my top 5
1. Carlos Correa we need a power hitting shotstop badly
2. Byron Buxton we have soooo many great OF's, but a great batter, he is a pitcher too a power arm can throw 98 mph but not interested as a pitcher
3. Luca Giolito power arm making a comeback 98 mph
4. Mark Appel - late bloomer inconsistent at times
5. Mike Zunino power bat at catcher

How can it be hindsight, if it hasn't even happened yet?

Sorry, but the fact that you have Giolito above Appel is rather ludicrous.

right now I know Giolito might get drafted lower than Appel but Giolito is way better than Appel, Appel is a late bloomer
