That's from Jason Parks' "What Could Go Wrong" series at BP. Someone must have copied it to that blog. Parks is the person that I've heard say that earlier this year scouts were going to the game to see Bundy and staying to see Lino when Bundy was pulled from the mound.

Steve Melewski is the best writer on prospects for the O's. I'll check out his blog and see if I find anything.

Mixed opinions on O's boards about the trade as would be expected. Some love the trade while others feel that the O's gave up too much for what they see as a 3 month one dimensional rental.

I love the trade. Sounds like we got 2 servicable prospects for a piece we weren't going to be able to use anyway.

-- Agreed. I wouldn't hate this deal if I'm an O's fan. They get a guy who should produce a lot in the smaller ballparks of the AL East, (most notably the home park), given more regular ABs, and they likely will never miss the prospects they dealt.

For the Phillies, they gain not only salary relief, which is about all I held out hope for, but also two guys who could contribute at some point down the road, for a guy who was essentially value-less to the franchise.

Win-win is a great way to describe it.

Lino is raw but he's young and a power arm/power bat catcher who is playing full season ball at 19 is just as good as almost any big name international signing that we might see this coming week once the July 2 deadline gets here. Simon is a 4th round pick from last year who played college ball and has a nice sinking fastball that he uses to get grounders. He could end up a bullpen arm or a 4/5 starter or he could be a bust. I was surprised that they got anyone with any upside in this deal.

I like these kind of deals - they are underrated and go largely unnoticed but they are a smart way to add to a teams ML depth.

I'm waiting for the Phils next move which might give us a better idea of what direction they might be headed.

To be honest, I have no idea if they are gonna be sellers or buyers, nor do I have any idea what they should do. I have an opinion but that doesn't mean it's what they should do.

It wouldn't shock me if they went nuclear and totally cleaned house, including dumping Manuel and bringing up Sandberg. Nor would it shock me if they bided their time and tried to pick up a BP piece or two to try to hang in it. I think everything is on the table right now, including a complete rebuild.

I'm actually kind of excited to see which way they go.

I agree with you in that I have no idea which way they'll go. I'm pretty sure I know which way Amaro would LIKE to go, but that doesn't mean that he will go that way.

Here's my assessment -- if this team wanted to stay together and make another run at a title, they sure as heck don't play like it. Through their play, they have BEGGED to be broken up.

Lino to Lakewood and Simon to Clearwater?

Simon already pitched for Clearwater yesterday and Lino is on the Lakewood roster now.
