I would love to have Willingham for the stretch run but not sure how the waiver thing works...I thought he would have to fall all the way to us which is to get through the AL first, since he plays for an AL team, and then get through the NL, especially the snakes, doggies, which i doubt would let him come to us...

but, a lineup like this for stretch run would be nice:

Pagan - CF
Scutaro - 2B
Panda - 3B
Posey - C
Willingham - LF
Pence - RF
Belt - 1B
Crawford - SS

yeah I'm not sure how the whole thing works...I think we'd have to be lucky to be able to deal for him and no one else claims him before us...

IIRC, Isn't he under contract for a reasonable $7 mill next season?

Very doubtful Willingham will make it to us, if he was even made available. FYI he now has the same 3.9 WAR as Hamilton LOL.

I was thinking it would be nice to bring back Ross, but Willingham would be my first choice.

But I don't think there is any chance Willingham clears waivers, is there? Detroit or Oakland would probably grab him, and if not, Arizona or the Dodgers would probably do so just to block.

This reminds me how much I hate the waivers rules. A team should not be allowed to claim a guy just to block. There should have to be a deal in place immediately or pass to the next team.

Twins have said they won't trade "The hammer" and if they did.

-He would never make it to us on waivers. I would guess even non playoff teams would make a push for him because of his friendly contract past this year.
-He would cost a boatload, like premier prospect(s)

He isn't the same unlooked 30 HR but nothing else player he was for the A's. Guy is going to hit 40 bombs with 120 RBIs in a pitchers park, teams would pay high to have him .

Those are 2 guys having decent seasons, under very favorable contracts. Why do people think that other teams are in it to make the Giants better? For what purpose would their respective teams look to unload them? People act like all it takes is for Sabean to get on the phone and tell other teams to send the players his way. The rest of the league is not our minor league affiliate.

The Dbacks or dodgers would block that in a heart beat.
