I like the idea of giving Lucroy an extension. It's reportedly a 4 or 5 year deal.

The Brewers have agreed to extend Jonathan Lucroy, Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com tweets. Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports reported earlier today that the Brewers were nearing a four or five year deal with the Sports One Athlete Management client. The deal could be announced today.

Lucroy is about to start his third season in the Major Leagues. A four-year extension would cover the 25-year-old's final pre-arbitration season and three of his arbitration seasons, assuming the deal starts this year and that Lucroy obtains super two status following the 2012 season. A five-year deal that kicks in immediately would cover his final pre-arbitration season and all four of his arbitration seasons.

Lucroy posted a .265/.313/.391 line in 468 plate appearances last year, preventing 28% of stolen base attempts against him. However, the 2007 third round selection frames and blocks pitches well, according to The Fielding Bible Volume III.

Recent extensions have generally placed the value of a starting catcher's first three arbitration years in the $7-10MM range, as MLBTR's Extension Tracker shows. A four-year deal for Lucroy would figure to fall on the low end of that range given his relative inexperience.

Yep. I'm a fan of Lucroy. If he improves he's pushing to be an all-star. If he stays where he was the last two years he's decent at least.

He would be nothing more than a AAA backup with any organization. He is the beneficiary of a team with a terrible minor league system and an incompetent GM and scouting staff.

He really improved defensively last year too. I think he's gonna be a good one for a while.

I'd be the first to vote him into the HOF if I had a vote.

like I said earlier, just give the one dollar back to the braves and Nieves is ours again! Maybe throw in a couple extra nickels to seal the deal

So it's a five year deal with a club option for 2017.
The deal is worth 11M

Lucroy, under a four-year “Super Two” arbitration structure, would receive the following guarantees:
$500,000 signing bonus.
$500,000 in 2012.
$1.9 million in ’13.
$2.3 million in ’14.
$3.3 million in ’15.
$4.25 million in ’16.
$5.25 million club option or $250,000 buyout in ’17.
Under a standard three-year arbitration structure for Lucroy, the breakdown would be this:
$500,000 signing bonus.
$500,000 in 2012.
$750,000 in ‘13.
$2 million in ’14.
$3 million in ’15.
$4 million in ’16.
$5.25 million club option or $250,000 buyout in ’17.
Lucroy’s deal also includes partial no-trade protection in both structures.

This is a great thing for Tony Mound Visit and for the Brewers. It's not too much on Mark A's end and stabilizing the catcher spot is a great baseball move. Lucroy, for his part, gets a nice payday and some security at a position that can run a guy down quick. I like it. His offense is really looking good this spring too. Batting title runner up, book it!
