Really? Am I wrong? You're the doc. I'm just a kindly old victim of the same condition.

About not doing any damage. A complete obstruction is considered at the very least, an urgent condition that requires surgical intervention. BTW, I had a kidney stone too.

You don't drink the beer for the alcoholic content but for the increased urine output. That helps pass the stone.

I'm sure your advice is better than mine.

I will, however, diagnose the cause of this agony. It's all that high calcium liberalism he's been ingesting. Goes straight to the kidneys.

I'm a little surprised that your urologist didn't recommend some beer.

The pain went away last night and the stone was not passed.
I've only been to the emergency room . I haven't been to the urologist.
I really don't don't know if i need to go to the doctor or just wait it out.
I have enough pain pills for 3 more days. I don't feel much pain now.
thx for asking.

Anesthesia provider with a h/o of a possible kidney stone. They did a cysto on me and couldn't find a stone but indications were there that I may have passed one. I drink a lot more water now.

did they give you flomax? i had a bout of stone induced renal colic in august, where the stone was blocking the tube to the bladder. that pain was indescribable, as i'm sure you can guess now. it was enough to put me in the emergency room. once the was worked into the tube towards the bladder, it was still painful, but not cripplingly so. and then once it made it to the bladder, the nurse gave me some flomax on top of the pain meds to relax the urethra. i never felt the stone after that. i also had a follow up stone come out of the other kidney a week & a half later. that didn't cause a blockage. i took the couple flomax i had left along with aleve, and it passed without much pain a couple hours later.

after you get done with this round, you will want to at the very least cut out all colas. i went cold turkey on all caffine drinks and just switched to water at work. once i was staying regularly hydrated, even overhydrated if there is such a thing, i didn't need a caffine bump during the day thanks to being able to get to sleep and staying asleep during the night. i will have an occasional tea or coke these days, but if i don't have it before lunch, i'm sure to feel it when i try to go to sleep. i also lost about 8 pounds in a month after quitting colas.
