Didn't the angels call it "Chavez ravine stadium"? I thought the dodgers always called it DS.
Gotcha. I've definitely heard it called that before too. I was just wondering if that was ever the official name of the stadium.
"It may have been called Dodger Stadium by the Dodgers, but when I was a boy everyone I knew called it Chavez Ravine, even Vinny called it Chavez Ravine. "
My understanding is that 'Chavez Ravine' is the name of the land (or ravine) Dodger Stadium sits on. It was called Chavez Ravine before the stadium was constructed. Either is correct - DS or Chavez Ravine. I don't think that the DS was ever named Chavez Ravine. :)
It's a cool name, my dad calls it that a lot too.
I went to both Dodger & Angel games at Dodger Stadium when I was a kid. As far as I can remember it was Chavez Ravine when the Angels had a homestand, & Dodger Stadium when the Dodgers were playing there.
Is this corporate money supposed to pay for Frank's rent on the parking lots? Is that why the new owners want / need that extra revenue? If so, we'll always be reminded of Frank's tenure here in LA. Everytime we go out to Bed, Bath, & Beyond Stadium.
That's kind of what I read, the angels just didn't want to call it DS.
Just like when the jets played at Giants Stadium. We always called it the "The Meadowlands".
It wouldn't surprise me to see a new owner get revenue from anyplace possible, after all he's spending a fortune for the team.
"no one ever called it Dodger Stadium."
I don't know about that.
It's funny how much of their history is tied to us and they know it, it's totally a napolean complex thing with them. I guess I can't blame them for being so scornful.
Uppity, yes. Scornful, no.
And by the by, they didn't win a WS until a Dodger was running things. Just sayin'.
