The Gians gave up today. Never showed up, and gave up on a fanbase and the entire season. Good high school teams would have looked better against the Falcons today. Two specific observations:
1) The Pass Rush (or complete lack of it): Supposedly a strength, it is the worst in the NFL at this point and the worst of any team I can remember. Someon told Pierre-Paul what a star he was, what a freak athlete he is, etc., etc., and he has not played since. No one on the D line is a factor in any play, their names are not even mentioned by the announcers, and when a QB drops back against the Giants he has at least 15 feet of wide open space for as long as he wants. The Giants would be better off dropping every lineman back in pass coverage because they never get anywhere near the QB. Every guy on this D line needs to be replaced. Reputation means nothing - watch them play! They are horrific, easily beat with little effort on every down.
2) The hit on Cruz to the head: I am one who believes that many of these calls against D backs in the "concussion era" are bush-league, and that it is impossible to regulate where/how you hit guys running at full speed and jumping around. Having said that, if the league is serious at all about hits to the head, that guy who speared Cruz in the head needs to be ejected, fined heavily, and suspended for a minimum of 6 games. The ball hit the ground at his feet, and then he fully launched himself, head forward, into a full helmet to helmet spear of Cruz, who had pulled up. It appeared he was trying to paralyze him - there was no football play at all to be made, the ball had already hit the ground, and it was no continuation of the play, just a flagrant and obvious attempt to injure.
