Motte just isnt going to be a great closer because he isnt a pitcher he is a thrower. He has to rely on batters getting themselves out.

Looked like a poor fastball to me. He kept the fastball high with Soriano and the guy behind him.

The pitch to Joey was a bad slider which is more of a "slurve".

What's really bad is that he lost the game for Jamie.

The really bad thing was that it was 0-2. I wonder if Yadi called that pitch or if Motte shook Yadi off.

It is called having a bad night. It is one of those things that winners have happen to them from time to time. He didn't have his usual stuff and blew it. I can understand why some can't understand that because their usual is fail.

I was shocked at the drop in velocity after that run of 98-99 mph pitches. I think he blew his wad trying to get that strikeout.

I agree, that at-bat with LaHair was one great battle. Good old fashioned hard ball, and it didn't work out-- kinda took the wind out of Motte's sails, but he gave it all he had. Go Cards!

Agree....Motte will be alright, he'll learn from it. I always get a bad feeling when an x-cardinal comes to plate in a game winning situation.

His "offspeed" pitches are awful.

I think his bad pitches were fastballs too. I think he threw two or three pitchers that weren't fastballs.

Motte seems most effective when he rolls the other team quickly. I'd have liked to seen him pulled after the long AB. That's not a knock against him, just that it's probably not fair to expect him to throw a 30-pitch inning of 98-99 m.p.h. heat.

Ideally I'd have liked to see Garcia stay out. He was cruising, and his pitch count was still low.
