    • Austin Jackson now one of the ELITE players in the AL

I was referring to offensively. Jackson hit .249 with a .691 OPS last season while striking out 181 times.

I thought he meant the original trade. They wanted Adams over Nunez but he turned out to be hurt so they asked for either Nova or Nunez as a replacement and Cashman said that was too high of a price for a rental. Seems to me Cashman was right since the Yankees would have no retained Lee.

no one who knows anything about baseball considered Austin Jackson the best cf in baseball. I dont know where you got that from. Defensively many consider him among the best but offensivley especially last year he wasnt even average. Too many strikeouts with very limited power.
Granderson plays a very good cf and last year led the majors in runs scored and was right near the top in rbi's.

I don't think there is any question Austin Jackson is a better player than Granderson at this point, or at least having a better year. A-Jax is hitting .320 +, his OBP is over .400, and his OPS is in the .920 range, all while playing in a pitcher-friendly ballpark. And you're right, Jackson is considered to be one of the best center fielders in the game defensively. The kid has been one of the most valuable players in the AL this year behind probably only Trout and Cano.

Yup. Here is the irony though. There are 90 outfielders that start when every team plays. If a select few start above 100 games in a year, you can count them elite. So, any player that start that many games in the OF in a season they can be considered elite. So, yeah AJ is elite, so is Ichiro, Swisher, and Granderson.

The only way it makes sense to me is if Cash wanted to keep Nunez around as leverage in the then-upcoming Jeter negotiations. Otherwise it makes no sense. You already decided to move the centerpiece, montero, to win the WS, so why would you cancel the whole thing due to a throw-in? Plus, you never know how the Lee negotiations would've went had he played in NY.

"Actually last year Austin Jackson was considered to be the best CF in the AL; arguably all of baseball"
.
What position does Matt Kemp play?

It's like getting a diploma from 6th grade. Something I hear that you barely accomplished.

Yes, but it took him 3 years to accomplish it. Did he really earn it or is he just another of the no child left behind students?

Pineda is money in the bank. He will be a real winner for the NYY, for years to come.

Melky always had the talent; but, was not going to show it with the Yankees. He was a disruptive influence on the team, and, a major distraction and embarrassment, (youtube adventure).

Most importantly, he was a bad influence on Cano.
Cano would never reached his potential with Melky around.

He was a disaster in Atlanta, and, they could not get rid of him soon enough.
Glad to see him reach his potential, and, get his cap on straight.

Granderson was a bonanza, and, was worth the sacrifice. He added power, (somebody predicted 40HRs, as I recall). He added speed and veteran experience, playing CF in a larger stadium.
Gardy may have the younger speed; but, does not have the long experience in the larger CF.

Actually, I wouldn't trade Nunez for Cliff Lee. I'd rather trade #47 Ivan Nova and #11 Brett Gardner for #33 Cliff Lee. While it may seem like Eduardo Nunez isn't as fast as Brett Gardner, I think Nunez would do a better job of actually getting on base. As a matter of fact, I'd play Nunez right now if there was a spot available for him on the active roster, he can play SS and 3B and make the transition JUST LIKE Alex Rodriguez did in 2004, that's how you know it's going to work. I'd give Nunez a different uniform # other than what the Yankees are FORCING HIM to use. #26 would work well on #11 Brett Gardner though.

The real reason we don't have #53 Melky Cabrera on the Yankees anymore is because the Yankees front office and the management is SOOOO OVERPROTECTIVE of Brett Gardner, so they traded Melky away.

Melky had 200 hits last year. What are you talking about? Oh that's right. You don't know!
