He has to be released. He's now costing more than just his salary....I have zero doubt that his bad play and the fact that the team keeps him is keeping SOME fans away, that costs revenue.

You are right. There is no alternative. I also don't think they are doing him any favors by keeping him in the Show. He is embarrassed and miserable. The Mets clearly need an on-staff shrink for Bay, Ike, and poor Matt Harvey whom Warthen is in the process of destroying.

"Boo with fervor and meaning. It's only our hope...obi wan."

I thought we're not supposed to go to games?

Do you realize that by booing him (in person, of course) you're helping support
the Wilpons?

In the short run they should get a new hitting coach (nobody on this team including DW is hitting anymore, it's not just Bay), in the long term they should send bay down to AAA and Bring up anyone who's any good from down there.

I think honestly at this point you give Duda few more days in the left at Buffalo and you bench Bay and promote Duda.

Look Bay is a great guy, he can come in late to provide great defense, but we need to give Duda some time to see if he can be our guy for 2013. We know at this point that Bay is not the guy for the future.

When the Mets do next to nothing this off season and the fan base quiets down after that, you start the release Bay rumors to get the fans behind that decision.

If you release him now and do not sign anyone in the off season, you run the risk of everyone yelling about just slashing payroll, even if it doesn't make sense.

Its a timing thing.

Give him the Ollie/Castillo treatment. Send him down and if he refuses, have him ride the pine, put him in only in mop up situations, and if he doesn't do anything in ST next year, cut him a couple weeks into the season.

They could make Bay a defensive replacement for Duda late in Games that would actually be a good role for Bay right now, or they could send him down to AAA (I doubt Bay would refuse it),
either way is ok with me.

And now Ollie has found himself as a decent relief pitcher for the Mariners. Bay will go to another team and hit 30 homers and 100 rbi. Typical Met luck

You answered your own question.

He has no value, and he plays worse than a AAA replacement.

Have to cut him. The fact that he's still here speaks volumes about the attitude of the franchise. Team is still being run by the Wilpons, sadly.
