Doesn't seem like such a bad idea, I have a bad feeling were not gonna see Carp this year or maybe ever again. Can Adams play any of?

".........my guess is, Sam Freeman called up. We need another lefty in the pen."

nice prediction, that lines up well.

more playing time for carp2. with craig being DL twice now and berk missing time, carp2 has been a valuable roster member.

Hopefully he can keep hitting.

I am expecting Beltran to hit the DL soon also.

If Beltran stays out of action that leaves an outfield of Holliday, Skip, Robinson, and Carp2. Robinson's got one hit in his last 21 at-bats for an OPS of .139 in May, but the other three are pretty hot this month.

we dont need to 60 day carp, we have an open spot on the 40 man roster already since we cut jc romero and replaced his 40 roster spot with no one

in addition, k-mac sounds like he is on his way to a second tommy john surgery and out for the season so that can open up another roster spot

we have flexibility on the 40 man roster

There are 38 on the 40-man roster. They started the season at 40. DFA Komatsu and released Romero. Leaving them at 38.

So yes they could go with Adams at 1B and let Berkman play RF. I would only do that if Berkman is 100% healthy and Beltran is going on the DL. They could even add Browning as the 2nd lefty but I doubt they would. I suspect Dickson will get the call to replace McClellan. He would give them a true long man in the pen. I liked Dickson in his relief appearance last season. He, like Lynn, gained about 3mph in the pen.

Chambers didnt play last night in AAA. Probably was on his was to Los Angeles.

i thought they already announced that dickson was called up? or was that just speculation?

do we also know for sure that craig is going on the dl or was the article just saying it was likely since beltran is also day to day and we would thus be shorthanded

Outfielder-first baseman Allen Craig will land on the disabled list due to a left hamstring strain suffered during Wednesday night's win against the San Francisco Giants.

Is this team ever relatively healthy? Ever freaking year seems like. I know every team gets injuries but it always seems like we have a lot.

I know an outfielder in AA who needs to be called up. As well as a 1B in AAA.

The injury situation has really decimated the offensive (and defensive to a lesser extent) prowess of the Cards roster. If they can't get some of the presently ailing key players back healthy and effective ... well, draw your own conclusion. Too many key players on the Cards would look more natural in a Red Cross tent than on a baseball diamond! However, going in, it should have been no secret that susceptibility to injury to many key players could potentially be a fatal flaw for this roster.

That might not be such a bad idea! If Adams is healthy, he might as well get introduced to MLB. His "rookiness" may be a plus for him til pitchers get a "book" on him.

I, too, am not very optimistic that Carp will ever perform at an effective level for the Cards, and quite possibly not at all.

As excited as I am about Adams I don't see him as a fix/answer right now.
His only position is 1B and he hits LH. Right now that is Berkman. And I think moving Berkman to the OF would be a mistake.

Corner OF will be Holliday & Beltran(hopefully any day now!). Berkman is at 1B and Craig/Carpenter back up both positions. I know Craig is on the DL(is that official?) but I can't see bringing up Adams to PH & back up Berkman.
