BTW, if you compare Murphy's first 1,000 ABS and Kent's, Murphy beats him in every category except HRs and SLG (barely).

Yes, but Kent's defense could make up for his dominate offensive. The same can't be said for Murphy.

At this point in their careers Murphy is a much better offensive guy than Kent was. If Murphy hooks up with Bonds and gets some roids he could have a better career than Kent.

Please stop comparing Murphy to Kent. You are comparing arguably the greatest offensive second basemen of all time to a one dimensional player.

Do you remember what they were saying about Kent when he was shipped to SF?

I liked Kent, but when he left NY ALOT of people were happier.

A great, wise soothsayer and defensive guru once said that getting rid of Reyes is addition by subtraction so I guess by that logic getting rid of Murphy would be multiplication by the square root, by subtraction...

With the exception of BA, I predict Murphy has a season of personal bests in all other hitting stats. They won't be amazing stats, but the signs of a good, solid contact hitter. I'm thinking .305, 45 doubles, 70-75Rs, 15HRs, 70-75RBIs, 10SBs, .368OBP.

But yeah, hopefully the glove won't be too much of a liability.

The .320 batting average lat year is the stat everyone likes to point out, but I think his most impressive stat is that he hit .364 W/Risp last year.

Agreed. It's quite possible the RBIs could go higher, but if he's batting 2nd (and Torres is leading off) I doubt it since he'll be asked to make contact/sacrifice and/or move runners (will there be any runners, LOL?) over.
