You would think so, except that Loshe is our ace this year and is our #1 starter, matched up against the Josh Johnson types. AW is currently 3rd in the rotation, though maybe due to the schedule he is matching up against other #2s. Why is it that we have more trouble against other teams #2's (Grienke, Jeff S&(*&(*&) than aces like Johnson and Gallardo?

He's still inconsistent but he could end up being a solid #3 or even #2 type starter.
His first start of the season was better than his performance last night and he threw a 98 mph fastabll past Zimmerman in the 9th inning after already throwing over 100 pitches. He had a shutout going and ended up giving up a homer in the 9th.

They planned all along to give him a shot at starting this year , he trained in Arizona months before spring training even began and he was one of about 5-6 guys competing for the other 2 rotation spots.

His location has been great, but some of the time he's getting too much of the plate though.
He's had 2 great starts, pitched about half a good game against your team before he fell apart and one start where he just was getting too much of the plate and was getting hit hard.

His biggest problem in the past was falling behind hitters, he's been excellent at not doing that this year.
He had a great approach this winter he said he's going to approach starting in a different way than he did relief and he said he knows he has to maximize his pitches, get ahead in counts and not try to strike everybody out and not be afraid to let batters hit the ball so he can keep his pitch counts down and stay in games longer ........I was surprised to hear that from a Cubs pitcher especially after watching Zambrano approach 100 pitches in the 5th inning for years.
He's also getting confidence and a bit of cocky ness which I think is key for him
