Little off on games played I was, but, you get the drift, you almost have to hope the Sox collapse so the Tigers don't have to play over their heads

Tigers do not have to play over there heads at all they need to stop giving away games.

Here's the thing (sarcasm, I know you get it)...the other team is trying to win, too...

90 wins is about what it will take, as I expect Chicago to play well to the finish. Bullpen and RISP hitting must improve a bit from this weeks performances to get this done.

It's not quite that bad. The White Sox have two games in hand on us, and thus have 50 to play, while we have 48.

If the Sox go 25-25, we would have to go 25-23 to tie them, 26-22 to wind up on top.

Not bad, but somebody mentioned Chicago has an "easier" schedule as opposed to us.

By the way, I just noticed that NormCash68 addressed the same issue that I did (the difference in Games Played and its effect on the If-Then numbers), a few posts ahead of mine. So give him appropriate credit.

And this is all assuming the Sox only play .500, if they play slightly better, look out, then the Tigers will have to play real well in next 48, I guess the bottom line is you don't change a Tiger's stripes so why should they finish at let's say a 30 and 18 clip, probably/will not happen, so in turn, the Tigers are gonna hope the Sox fall flat somewhere in the next 50

The Sox's season Winning Percentage, over the last 50 games, works out to 27.25 wins.
Round it to whole games, and they go 27-23. That would require the Tigers to go 27-21 to tie for the division, 28-20 to win it.

Always Goodwill from you :)
You make people feel welcome. You a Wal-Mart greeter? lol.
Just kidding.

But it's true, lots of games to play and each team controls their own destiny.
You beat us, You have the Division, We beat you, What else..... We Get Division.

This is a Pennant race, let's enjoy it !!!!!

Tigers are .607 in the second half, CWS are .538. We have an easier schedule down the stretch. As long as we don't continue hitting like last night, I think we'll pass them.

That's good, logically though, 9 games over after 114 games, then go 8 over in last 48, highly unlikely, I'm opting for the Sox to fold, it is baseball and anything and everything happens, I guess just keep winning, it'll take care of all the rest

Yes angelcity ..you are 100% correct. Simple formula is to win ballgames. I really like Detroit's schedule down the stretch ..especially w/so many against Central Division foes.

My guess is we'll pass ChiSox very early September.

It's still a bit too early to say who will win the central. Looks like the White Sox are 1.5 as of right now and 2.0 if Detroit losses to Texas, 1.0 if they dont.

We all will have a better grasp after the 4 games series in Chicago on September 10th-13th

if either team is around 2.0 games either way, that series will be the make or break for both. Regardless I expect both the Sox and Tigers to make the playoffs. One will be in that WildCard game.

Does it really matter who wins the division? Neither team is going to advance anyways, especially the Tigers. They are back to playing horrible baseball again!! And they still have that same ole senile manager, Leyland!!

But that will shrink if this offense can't figure out how to hit on the road.

The Oakland Inge's would be a tough draw in the post-season.
