Geez, Ligero, get a freaking life.

Why would they want to kill off the fanbase in South Florida? That doesn't make any sense, Ligero. The front office is inept and the ownership is s.c.u.m. but there's no point in trying to kill off the fan base. What's their motivation for doing that Ligero? They can't move the team.

On an unrelated note, you obviously can't keep from posting, Ligero, even though you said you would once you got banned (does that count as a lie, something you said you NEVER do?) There's a site out there that's run by one of the old-time posters from here, a guy named jonnylons, that desperately needs posters. It's called http://www.marlinsnation.com. Maybe you should try that place. They'll never ban you.

I have said it many times: Marlins management will leave the citizens of Miami Dade County "high and dry". They will make their fortune, which they have been doing since their arrival, and fold. Their excuse will be: lack of fan support. Fans cannot support a mediocre class A team (there are days where the starting line up has 4 players hitting below 200) trying to play in the Majors. Analyze this team, position by position, and you may come up with four or five players (out of 25) that deserve to be in the Majors; with that kind of a roster, who can win. Although I am not a fan of Ozzie, I do not blame him. His coaching staff is, however, pathetic. The GM and the President of baseball Operations cannot sell the Cuban Sandwiches that Samson is always talking about: I DO NOT GO TO A BALLPARK TO EAT; I GO TO SEE BALLPLAYERS PLAY. When I want to eat I go to a restaurant to enjoy the meal and the company.

They can't fold the team. That's not how it works in baseball. The league can take the team over if needed.

How are you going to fold one team and have a schedule with an odd number of teams?

A team can't be folded without the players union's okay. That was negotiated into the CBA several years ago. You think the union will allow 25 major league jobs and over 100 minor league jobs to be eliminated?

I reckon they could file for bankruptcy. Typically if a business files for bankruptcy, it voids existing contracts, including leases. I'd have to imagine that the City of Miami and Miami-Dade protected themselves against that.

So I think the Marlins will be in Miami for the next 30 years. The quality of play is another matter and everybody's low estimation of the current ownership is spot on - they'll s#ck every penny out of the team and stadium that they can. When Loria abandoned the Expos, after he intentionally ruined the market so he could move them (something that can't happen here anymore), he even took the office furniture with him.

To answer your other question: Buehrle, Cishek, JJ, Reyes, Bonifacio, and Stanton definitely belong in the majors. Ruggiano, LeBlanc, Dobbs, Morrison, Dunn, and even Nolasco probably belong in the majors (Nolasco would be a good reliever). I agree this is not a major league roster though - Buck, Bell, Hayes, Zambrano, Green, Murphy, Cousins, Petersen, Hernandez, and Solano are washed up or are AAAA players.

What I meant by folding is doing exactly what Loria, et al, did in Montreal. Yes, MBL took over the franchise, but what was the end result? The franchise is now in D.C. and Montreal does not have a franchise. Loria could argue, as he has done before, that"low" fan participation is not a viable course, thus the franchise (either under his control or MLB's) should move.
We could have an interesting discussion about the players you mentioned, but, without proper guidance (coaching) those players would never reach their potential.

The difference in Montreal is that the team *could* be moved. The stadium lease here won't let the Marlins move for the next 30 years (well 29 now). They ain't going anywhere.

That doesn't stop Loria from draining every last penny he can from the franchise and putting a AAA team on the field. The one thing that may stop Loria is MLB itself - with the anti-trust expemption, the other owners can step in if they think Loria is ripping them off (like he did by pocketing the revenue sharing money).

OMG !! You don't blame Ozzie !! Its obvious to me that you have NOT watched many Marlin games.

This "manager" has done NOTHING in order for the team to be successful. Does not use pinch hitters or pinch runners, keeps struggling pitchers in the game instead of calling on the bullpen. Brings in pitchers that should NOT pitch to left or right hitters. Constantly changing batting order during the first few weeks of play.

Unable to motivate the team. Has meetings with the players in which EVERY fourth or fifth word that comes from his mouth is F??CK this or F??CK that.

If you have watched the Showtime series on The Franchise about the Marlins you can see total disgust on the players face when they look at Ozzie. I believe MOST of the players can't stand Ozzie and his lack of control of this team.

You talk about how bad the coaches are ? If the coaches are BAD, the Manager is to blame.

I could go on and on about Ozzie's terrible managing of this team but Underdog will get bent out of shape.

He tells me I whine too much. Its not whining, its facts.

that was swampguy who said he didn't blame Ozzie, not me. I guess this board software is too difficult for you to use. Not surprised - it's written for fourth graders and above.

I'm glad you finally fixed your caps lock key.

I've posted elsewhere that Ozzie is an idiot, because he's such a joke with all the cr#p he says. That's okay - you get your facts wrong a lot but there will always be an audience on message boards for whiners so people like Pauly and Ligero/.../GhettoGod will back you up. It's easy and polular to say everything s#cks, especially during a bad season, but you have no credibility because that's all you ever say, even when good things happen, like JJ's last start or Stanton coming back or Reyes finally playing like he's capable. Even Ligero/.../GhettoGod can be positive once in a while.

Now it's your turn to come back with a witty and well-thought out retort like "bite me."

I apologize. You're right - I really can't find any facts one way or another. You post opinions. You think they're facts, and nobody can argue that this is one bad baseball team, but your overwhelming negativism is confusing. Who spends time following something that makes him as unhappy as the Marlins obviously make you?

You musta never been a Mets fan. I grew up a Mets fan. I know what it's like to root for a bad team, year after year. A team who traded a Hall of Famer for nothing (Seaver for Zachary, Flynn, and Dan Norman). But I still would enjoy the occassional 3-game winning streak or a solid season by somebody like John Stearns. You don't seem to enjoy anything.

I ENJOY FRUSTRATING YOU. IT MAKES MY DAY.

YOU ARE STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH YOUR SPELLING AND TYPING. DIDN'T YOU CONTACT OZZIE YET ABOUT HELPING YOU WITH THIS ?

YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT ONE THING. I WAS NEVER AND WILL NEVER BE A METS FAN.

ANY MANAGER ON ANY OTHER TEAM WOULD HAVE BEEN FIRED MONTHS AGO IF THEY HAD PERFORMED AS BAD AS OZZIE HAS. WHAT WOULD OZZIE HAVE TO DO TO GET FIRED ? HE HAS PROBABLY COST THE MARLINS AT LEAST 10 GAMES BECAUSE OF HIS LOUSY MANAGING.

I WILL TELL YOU ANOTHER THING. IF OZZIE HAD PULLED THIS CR AP IN NEW YORK, THEY WOULD HAVE HUNG HIM OUT TO DRY. HE WOULD HAVE BEEN FIRED BACK IN EARLY PART OF JULY, MAYBE EVEN JUNE.

OZZIE HAS RUINED THIS TEAM AND HAS MADE THE MARLINS THE LAUGHING STOCK OF BASEBALL.

HAVE YOU SEEN ANY OF THE SERIES ON SHOWTIME CALLED THE FRANCHISE ? OZZIE ACTS LIKE THE BIGGEST JERK EVER.

NO PLAYER IN ANY CLUB WOULD ENJOY PLAYING FOR THIS IDIOT. I LOVE BASEBALL BUT NOT OZZIE BASEBALL THAT'S WHY I GET UPSET.

THANK GOD FOOTBALL HAS STARTED. HAVE A GREAT DAY.

I agree on some points with you on this one....I do think that this office is to gentle to the players and coaches.....How many years we had to put up with Hanley,if he was on another team acting like he did here he would be gone in a heart beat.....Ozzie choosing Bell to close time after time yeah I blame him too for a bunch of games that we lost that we had it in the bag....I mean really blowing up a 5 game run in the 9th and no one warming up.......wow....

Let's face it folks ... the FO is taking us all for a ride ... we are paying ML ticket prices to watch minor league team play. This latest line up is a joke ... Hernandez who? Green who? Hayes, please! Le Blanc, starting pitcher? And then Bell to top it off!

I'm mad ... no season tickets for me next year.

I agree with your facts..............and as a long time fan I now refuse to support this ownership.

In fact I hate that little twerp Samson...he's an egotistical litle puke ball.

Someone should punch his lights out.

What a shameful disgrace they have created for a town that deserves much better.

I would not be dissappointed if they left this city.

At this point there are about a million reasons that have been written about on this blog that explain the reasons why this team is so bad.....but only a new REAL owner can fix this .....forget about that ugly POS Loria........

With the three stooges coaching this team (Ozzie, Perez, Leclair) there is NO HOPE......

so lets forget about baseball and support the Dolphins....ok?
