I give quite a few cares, several in fact.

"when we are leading 7-2 in the 9th and Hafner hits a solo home run"

How many times has that happened this year? Hey, maybe you should take a look at these, they could help you out.

2012
May 23 - Indians Win 4-2, Hafner 2 RBIs
May 22 - Indians Win 5-3, Hafner 2 RBIs
May 14 - Indians Win 5-4, Hafner 1 RBI
April 17 - Indians Win 9-8, Hafner 1 RBI

Every game counts, right?

Who would you suggest? Maybe Marson? Hafner isn't healthy and even if he gets on base with a walk or hit, he can't run! He cost us a run today(maybe even 2 when kotchman got his hit today and brantley didn't score). His numbers are a whole heII of a lot better than Hafner's.

Im not saying Hafner has done nothing all year, Im saying he simply doesnt do enough for a guy batting #4 in the order. I have more hope for a big hit with Duncan, Marson or Lopez in that spot than with Hafner.

And I agree that Hafner could be doing more as a number 4 hitter. But when you said "Hafner gets hits and walks when they don't matter" that's not true, he has gotten hits when they mattered, just not that often.

I think he came back too early, because of the struggles of Santana.

Santana today with another 6 LOB.

Well, he's not doing the team any favors. We don't need another easy out. And even if he does get on base, he can't run. He's more of a liability then any thing else at this point. Only way he should be out there is if he is healthy

"Now compare how many AB's they have. Believe me if he gets as many at bats as Kipnis, there will be no comparison. He's still hurting as we all watched him limp around the bases today and we lost a run because of it."

So Hafner has enough at bats for you to complain about, but not enough to compare his performance to other players?

Hafner need to go back to North Dakota and run his ranch. He wouldn't scare a little league pitcher.

He doesn't offer anything that we need. Funny people defend him by saying "But he puts up good at bats and draws walks". Walks are fine and all, but there is nobody behind him who drives in runs consistently besides Brantley. And Brantley isn't good enough for it because if Hafner's slow @ss is on 1st base after a walk and Brantley plugs the gap Hafner still can't score. Hafner needs to take some responsibility. He is the veteran in the middle of the lineup and is atrocious with RISP and can't drive in runs. He has to be a guy who can plate some runs because he is a massive liability on the basepaths.

He just steps up to the plate, puts up "A professional at bat", and rolls a 3 hopper into the shift.

Ok, stop spinning my words around. You know what I mean Mr. Spindoctor, if Hafner had as many AB's as Kipnis(which I'm glad he doesn't), he wouldn't match the slug% of Kipnis.

I really don't think you even know/understand what "spin" means. All I did was ask you a question.

Ok, now you're telling me what I know and what I don't know. Talk about someone who thinks he knows it all and knows everyone else, sheesh!

I think it was a fair game for me to say that you don't know what "spin" means, you clearly misused it. I asked a question you got upset and danced around an answer. You went off the subject of "player at bats" and switched to the subject of myself.

Even as a free agent he really has no value... I would offer him 25 dollars to Take Sizemore away to Japan. Thanks for the memories boys.. we can sit around and talk about what could have been.
Were tired of this stuff... give me a team of Chris Perez types at least he produces.
And the fans are pathetic too.

Give it up man...people on this board must find something to complain about, and a guy like Hafner is an easy target. They will ALWAYS find a way to complain about him, and if he goes 4-4 with 4 homeruns, they'll find a way to complain about somebody else. It's not even worth your time.

People only complain about flaws. The only way people stop complaining is if those flaws are gone. Judging by how flawed this team is, the complaining won't stop. The team doesn't do themselves any favors. They can't hit with the bases loaded and struggle to move baserunners when they need to.

Every team has flaws, especially in this division. Obviously you want to win every game. You want every hitter to come through in every clutch situation. But these things come and go as the year goes on. We will get better with the bases loaded, it's bound to happen. We're 14th in the league as far as batting average with men in scoring position. Not great, but certainly not awful either. The White Sox are currently first in baseball in that category, but their BABIP in those situations is also about 90 points higher than the Tribe, and is by far the highest in baseball. That is not going to last all season, they've been getting lucky on balls in play with men on base. When more of those grounders start finding fielders and fly balls start finding mitts, they will even out and come back to earth. In 2011, no team in baseball had a BABIP over .316 with men in scoring position. The White Sox are currently over .360.

Of course he is an easy target the guy has made a lot of money the past few years and he's been on the DL more than he has played. He can't even contribute in field. One trick pony who stands up there and watches strike 1 and 2 go right by and then swings at strike 3 in the dirt. He doesn't scare anyone. Opposing pitchers will just pitch around Kipnis to pitch to him. That's what is sad!!

I agree, but we are flawed in important areas. Some teams can get away with not hitting as well with RISP, but those teams get more out of the long ball than the Indians. It is critical that we come through when we have chances, but the team is too inconsistent. Guys like Pronk and Santana have to step up if we have any chance. Hafner needs to drive in runs and Santana needs to stop being an automatic out.

Agreed, and I do think that those two guys will be better in the second half as long as they stay healthy. And I also believe that we will add a bat to the middle of the order, maybe not a stud, but an Alfonso Soriano type player who will really help this lineup, not only with RISP, but in every situation. Santana has seen an incredible amount of off-speed pitches because he has no protection in the lineup. As good as Brantley has been, he's still a singles hitter. He's not the type of bat that can hurt you with one swing. If you put a legit power threat in our #6 spot, Hafner and Santana will become much more productive, and Brantley-Damon-Kotchman can serve as a very solid bottom of the order.
