I got it, but the whole "one play away" is kinda misleading. Like it was a missed field goal to win it or something. I dont think it was one play per say, but a combination of plays. Maybe one play to lose it I guess. Its just funny to hear the commercial on KNBR that they were "one play away".

No it's not. The 'one play' didn't happen. You are trying to look back and change a play, but that's not what they are talking about. The 'one play' could have been a field-goal, or a TD run or Pass... They were 'one play' away from winning, they just never made the play.

Exactly. I see it like them saying "They were one out from going to the World Series". It's an out they never made. So "One play from the Super-Bowl" is a play they didn't make. It's not talking about a play that happened that should have been different.
