    • Astros, Dodgers discussing Lowrie trade.

Luhnow might have leverage we don' t know about. If he has had any real feelers from teams not on Lee's no- trade list, Luhnow could say 'you're going somewhere, here's your best shot at playing in the world series.'

At this stage, if I'm Luhnow I am willing to accept just about anything for Lee and Lee knows it. All we need is one supercrappy ($24 and our 45th best prospect) offer from one team/ destination less appealing than LA.

I would hate to lose lowrie but this team is going no where. they might as well restock the farm system. Regarding Lee, I will help him move to whoever is interested!!! This guy is a joke and has been for a few years. he's gotten over on the astros like nobody's business. $18 million for what he does? That is laughable. I have a hard time believing a team is actually interested in trading for him. They should do it immediately because it looks like he's forgetting how to hit...again.

Today is the day. 1:20 PM start time. I have to assume that, if we don't hear sooner, the lineup will tell the tale; no way he's in the lineup if he's accepted the trade, obviously. If he is in the lineup, we can assume he vetoed the trade. Four hours or less until we know...

"•Lee met with GM Jeff Luhnow this morning and told reporters (including MLB.com's Brian McTaggart and The Houston Chronicle's Zachary Levine) that the Dodgers have made an offer (Twitter links). He is going to take some time to decide if he wants to accept the trade, and he has not been given a deadline for his decision. He's unsure if he'll have an answer this weekend."

Not necessarily, there's no deadline and he's come out and said that he's unsure if he will have an answer this weekend.

I REALLY hope he accepts.

Where do you think Garret Gould would rank in our system?

That's old news dude, from before yesterday's game. After the game we got this: <http://brianmctaggart.mlblogs.com/2012/06/30/lee-expects-to-decide-by-sunday-to-accept-trade/

Probably top 10 at this point, though depending on the rest of the deadline, he could slide into the top 15. Baseball America had him #6, Baseball Prospectus had him #5, Fangraphs had him #5 and MinorLeagueBall had hm #4 in the Dodgers' system. The Dodgers system was ranked #24 by Baseball America compared to #18 for the Astros, so given that and the awesome draft we just had, there's no guarantee he'd be in our Top 10. That's saying something positive about the improvement of our system though, rather than something negative about Gould, IMO.

Scouting-wise, he's normally 90-94 MPH on his fastball and he's still young enough to where he could potentially add a bit more, or at least consistently sit 92-94, he has a curve that could keep developing into a true plus pitch and a decent changeup as well. Honestly, he sounds Bud Norris-ish. Maybe in terms of a prospect we currently have in the system, Paul Clemens would be a comp. He isn't a guy who's likely to be a future ace or anything, but he's a legit prospect with a chance to be a really solid #3 starter in the Majors. To get someone of that caliber for Lee would be stupendous.

That sounds reasonable. Comparing him to our other top pitchers, he'd probably fall below guys like Cosart and McCullers but slightly above Clemens and Oberholtzer.

Overall, we've got several guys with significantly higher upside -- Singleton, Correa, Springer, Cosart, Folty, McCullers. I'd probably put him behind DD and maybe even Ruiz as well.

Levine and others are saying he is in the lineup but hasn't yet decided.

Edit: oops. Ash got there first...

If Lee objects then he should be booed at home games....I know it is his right...but you would think he would want to compete for a title...Plus, if he gave a <damn about the Astros, he knows this would be good for them...Berkman saw the writing on the wall, and said for the good of the team, he would accept a trade...

I mostly agree. It is his right, obviously. He can do whatever he wants but it's at least worth pointing out that some guys do do things for the good of the team. We all know Lee is selfish but it's worth repeating.

What aggravates me almost more than his selfishness, is the fact that Mills hasn't benched him until the decision is made. If Lee is injured, then the trade is off. It's frustrating.

He would rather stay in Houston where he is not wanted than spend three lousy months taking his best and likely only remaining shot at a World Series.

Astounding.

Someone just suggested in a tweet that he must be going for a contract extension. That would make sense...

Ken Rosenthal: "Source: #Dodgers not offering Lee inducement to waive no-trade. #Astros could, but decision ultimately boils down to whether Lee will leave."

Ah, okay. I don't blame the Dodgers. Wonder if Astros will be willing to pay Carlos to leave.
