Yeah it's pretty good. It's his first book so it explains a lot of things about Discworld for the first time and you also meet recurring characters for the first time such as Rincewind, Death and the Luggage. What is missing is his usual humorous lampooning of government and religion. It's good, but there are much better books of his out there.

Im about halfway thru a good fred pohl book

I was 100 pages in and thought it had gone nowhere and the prose wasn't all the great either. But I was going to finish so I could blast it -- and when someone says "You can't be critical of a book you didn't finish I can tell them to jump in a lake.

Its hard to fight thru a bad book

A finished book is a happy book.

Mao II maybe a happy finished book but in the words of Walter Sobchak, "Mark it zero!"
