What's your take on Galchenyuk? I really like Dumba and Murray as well. I'd rather go best player available than just drafting a forward because we need more of them.

The Leafs arent at the cap? There like a million off the cap right now which is basically right at the cap limit.

Please tell me what money the Leafs are going to have to spend this offseason? Who is going to want to take a Komisarek at 4.5 million who cant even consistantly crack our lineup? Whos going to want a broken Colby Armstrong at 3 million when he cant even stay healthy? Connolly is really the only guy I could see some team taking for one year, a team who badly needs depth down the middle. These contracts are going to limit this teams ability BAD to do anything of note in free agency this year. You dont have these stiff on your team and you could make a big play for either Parise or Suter.

Thinking that gm's are just going to come and take our mistakes is very positive thinking.

You'd have a hard time moving Komisarek for anything but another bad contract. It would hard to get value back for Phaneuf with his contract as well. Outside of that who doesn't have a reasonable contract on the Leafs? Everyone else is entirely movable. Going in to the 2012 offseason they're $6.5M under the cap (if the cap # stays the same) without resigning Kulemin, Frattin, Franson, or Gustavsson. So you're right they'll need to move someone to make space.

No one is gonna wanna aquire Lombardi for next year at 3.5 million when hes hardly even a player you want in your lineup at this point. After signing all your RFA's and having to go out and replace Gustavsson in net, you're not going to have much money to spend. These contracts are holding the Leafs back in making a huge push for Parise or Suter. Sure if some dumm gm comes and takes a bad contract or 2 then maybe, but again we are assuming that we will be able to unload them and thats not a gurantee.

Listen Burke has done some nice things but we have so much dead weight on this roster thats eating up large cap #'s that are basically bringing zilch to the table.

Let him walk if they're going to acquire a real #1, if not re-sign him.

I don't think Burke would have trouble getting a 3rd/4th at the draft for Lombardi... Might have to take back $1-2M in the deal depending on the team.

Getzlaf could be available.
If SJ tanks and doesnt make the playoffs I could possibly see them putting Thornton on trade market.

A under the radar #1 C I like is Mikko Koivu

It would have to be through trade. I think the thought is they would trade players off the current roster of equal cap hit to make the space. Something like Schenn + MacArthur + prospect for Lindback?

The LEafs are going to make cap space at the draft. They need picks and cap space right now and have no reason to stay loyal to this group. They have the prospects to step in and fill out the roster. This is the year to go after FA's as well.
