And the post AS break baseball season starts with...a rain delay. Rizzo's run at the playoffs is put on hold.

The White Sox have recalled Jhan Marinez from Triple-A Charlotte, the club announced over Twitter.

Marinez was acquired by the White Sox over the winter as compensation for Ozzie Guillen's departure to Miami. The fireballing righty has a 3.14 ERA this season with Charlotte (43 innings) and has 296 strikeouts in 266 career minor league innings. He has control issues (4.2 BB/9 this season, 5.6 BB/9 career) but if he can harness the control at all the 23-year-old has potential to be a very productive MLB reliever.

is it pronounced "yan"? or "john"? or "j-han"?

Yep. And they'll probably be active at the deadline too. Definitely the team we need to worry about.

Wouldn't be surprised. Many were questioning whether the O's would hang on.

Brutal AL East, rivalry 6 with the Nats, and not a bunch of talent. Doesn't figure to last. O's have clesed to within 1.

Gotta hand it to the Sox before the break. They did not get a whole lot of help with the Tigers and Indians. Meanwhile, they had one of their toughest stretches of the year and still kept the teams away. I don't see enough out of the Tigs or Tribe to make me think they've gotten a lot better. I'm going to continue to hope that we get some help here.

Getting some help today. Toronto leading 10/4 over the Tribe in the 4th. Jimenez a little off his game - 7 hits, 4 walks equals 8 runs in 2 and a third.

Tigers look they are getting things together. Cabrera and Fielder are in high gear. They are getting a best year from Jackson and this Quinton Berry has really helped. Delmon Young also is getting some important hits. The rest of their lineup is still slumbering. Fister gave them a good outing against Baltimore so let us hope that is not the beginnning of a good streak from him. Be nice if Verlander's all star game appearance was something that would happen a bunch of times in the second half. I alos see them getting a pitcher like Dempster. Cub fans would love that.

If we still have a 3 and a half game lead over them after next Sunday, we would be in a very strong spot.

for some reason, kipnis waived home down 6 runs... gets thrown out, putting an end to that minor rally.

still 10-4 jays.

excellent DH derek jeter showing off his statuesque range... giving up a single on a ball hit literally two steps to his left. angels with a minor rally (anything with mike trout on base is a rally).

4-3 yanks.

If we can go 10-7 rest of July, then 32-27 in Aug and Sept gives us 90 wins. Should be enough if the wins include series with Tigers and Indians. We have a greater edge in pitching than they do in offense.
