Lets see the other night the white Sox had 3 homers in a game against us which accounted for 4 runs. And they lost anyway. I will take timly hitting over home runs any time. A couple of seasons ago the Reds led the majors in home runs. Then came in dead last. The home run while fun is very overated.

I'll take power and pitching every day of the week. Power hitting IS timely hitting and with the threat of power, pitchers must pitch more carefully. Three run homers are game changers. Stringing a bunch of hits to score a bunch of runs together isn't easy to do. Home run power can bring runs in bunches. Teams with power generally score more runs than "timely hitting" teams.
