The inferance was Alderson was telling him he didn't like it by asking him why he was doing it
Ted's feeling was that it was something he had done with Jerry for more than 20 years before Alderson arrived but since his boss was voicing his "displeasure" he stopped doing it

so what if alderson didn't like it at first? i've had bosses that were new hires before. if they didn't particularly like a procedure that was already in place, we discussed it like rational human beings and either the procedure stays in place, is modified, or changed. now i realize that this is not always the case, having a rational new manager, but it's hard to imagine if ted explained that it was a market thing and made his case in an intelligent manner, that alderson wouldn't allow at least a short amount of time for it, perhaps earlier or later in the game. or only dring games when we're on the wrong end of a blowout in order to keep viewers entertained. perhaps he would have allowed it dring a pitching change (a modification in procedure).

where are you going with this nowhere little story - LOL

But since we are analyzing it here's the thing - Alderson never struck me as the type that listened to an "intelligent explanation" from someone else because he thought he was always the smartest person in the room and the only one with an intelligent point of view

As you could probably tell I was reading between the lines of the story - that Alderson was saying he didn't like it - if you will remember Ted has been on one year deals for some time and not always sure he was coming back - the very last thing I think anyone wants to do is argue with Alderson - that will get you sent out the door

nowhere really. it's honest curiosity. before i can accept the story, i have to ask that question.

i read between the lines too, and i suspected that to be the case. i REALLY don't like alderson, bt it's jst hard to imagine a guy wouldn't at least hear an argument before screaming and kicking chairs while stomping out the room. <that imagery ought to let anyone else know what i think of sandy.

i'm curious about the timeline. if sandy is asking this, then he's clearly new to the padres. during a pennant race...2005 sounds right. if by the time he's asking this, his rep as an ahole has been solidified...ok. i guess, but somehow i just wonder. alderson gets no chance to really defend himself here and that seems rather slimey to me

I don't think that has much to do with it. Papers still have not been signed to complete the deal.

And I hope the first order of business would not to be put them in polos. lol

I don't live down there, but during the Giants pre-game they were saying that it's been a little muggy or warmer than usual ???? I don't know if thats true, but it could explain the more relaxed clothes.

It has been very warm. I'm not sure how hot it is on the coast, but in our back patio in the shade Vista it's always over 80(except for nighttime and morning). Haven't really looked to see how high it has gotten though.

I was under the impression wearing suits was ALL Enberg....
If that was the "first order of business" of the new owners then I am already shopping for a new team....LOL

Roger Clemens will start Saturday for the Sugar Land Skeeters, an independent minor-league baseball team from just outside Houston, a Skeeters spokesman said. The 50-year-old Clemens, a Houston native whose career spanned 24 seasons in Boston, Toronto, New York and Houston, hasn't played in a game since 2007, when he went 6-6 in 18 games with the Yankees.

The Skeeters are in their inaugural season and play in the unaffiliated Atlantic League. Former major leaguers Scott Kazmir and Jason Lane were, until now, the biggest names on a roster managed by Gary Gaetti, who had a 20-year MLB career of his own.

In his workout with the Skeeters he reached 87 mph on his fastball

There are probably no test administered in this league and in fact players may be encouraged to inject/injest something besides Miller Lite the state beer of Texas

you beat me to it

why are we still running out ohlendorf again?

we need to hire conte and get him and clemens together like a big happy family so we'd have a reliable starter

what i find absoltely hilarious is the name...
the skeeters
they really should have did a quick google search on what the other meaning of "skeet" is...
i wouldn't do that if i were at work though.

I assumed the name was for mosquitos (skeeters) which in the summer months become the "state bird" of Texas in cities like Houston

i remember texas summers more for the red ants. why are they so d@mn mean? is it the heat? i bet it's the heat.

of course i probably p!ssed them off by jumping on their home but i was like 6 and from san diego. how was i spposed to know there's ants that will eat you alive???

i can't think of any examples right now, bt sometimes, names are picked with hilarious slang meanings and this one...this one has me dying laghing. but i'm also a dave chappelle fan so i've been watching the youtube video of him talking about "skeet" lol

"you can't say skeet on the radio!"

"when they figure it out, they're gonna be like, 'oh my god what have we done?!"

lolz
