"...Marlins didn't pay for the stadium..."

Didn't say they did. So, what's your point?

"...They won't lose any money this year."

If fans are alienated they WILL lose money. You ignored the free agent commitments. Might as well call themselves "The Calcutta Marlins."

Baseball is a warm season game and Miami's tourist season is best during the cold months. Marlins cannot rely on tourists to take up the fall-off if the locals boycott.

Cannot recall anything dumber than Guillen's remark, can you?

Yes Dodger Al Campanis, and in one day it ruined and stopped his career.

Maybe Ozzie should have compared him to a cockroach, it's hard to get rid of him!

Maybe that's what he was trying to say when he said he admired him!?!

The handwriting is on the wall..Guillen will be fired sooner than later. The fans cannot forget his remark. What marlins ownership does not want is to see fans holding anti-Guillen signs in the stands.

Guillen is toast.

He has since said his comments were "taken out of context". Will someone explain to me how the words "I love Fidel Castro" can be taken out of context?

You mean his "Blacks lack the necessities" comment? If you recall, Ted Coppel actually tried to help Campanis out of the hole he dug for himself, but, he just kept digging himself in deeper.

"Will someone explain to me how the words "I love Fidel Castro" can be taken out of context?"

I know LOL!

The only explanation/excuse is sarcasm. Besides that...?

All I know is when Cuba turns to a democracy it will be a new vacation destination for the Americanos and hotel/resort companies!

This really surprises me. Just last year Ozzie ridiculed Sean Penn for saying nice things about Hugo Chavez, the leader of Venezuela, Ozzie's home country. He suggested Penn should live in Venezuela and see how he likes it. Very strange that he now says nice things about Castro who is a lot like Chavez.

"Problem with the Cuban American population is their hate towards Castro. The situation in Cuba before Castro when these Cubans now living in the U.S.were in control in my opinion was worst off. The Cubans were getting rich allowing the U.S.to exploit their country. If they were not so greedy Castro would never would of came to.power. Truthfully Gullien should of not been puinshed for what he said. It was not smart for him to say it and was cowardly for him to take it back."

Wow, the problem is with the Cubans who hate Castro? You do know that he is a murderous dictator, right? Do you know that the people of Cuba are prisoners on the island? Do you know that Kendrys tried to escape 12 times? His 12th attempt was the charm and he was able to float to Florida on a raft? Let me guess...you think Che Guevara was a great guy too.

"Morales wanted to get millions of dollars playing baseball. For all the Cubans who dislike Castro there are the same amount who love him. Neither one is right. It is sad the U.S. forced Cuba down this path."

It's called freedom. Morales wanted the freedom to make his own choices. How did the U.S. force Cuba down the path to totalitarianism? How did the U.S. force Castro to set up re-education camps? How did the U.S. force Castro to jail dissidents for speaking out? How did the U.S. force Castro to force his people to remain on the island? There are serious problems with a country that doesn't allow people to leave. Defending that system is appalling.
