"You just don't understand. You can't live life without insurance and hope you will not get sick or injured."

You never heard self insurance or medical savings accounts?

I had back surgery in 2009 and saved big bucks by negotiating a cash price that I paid on the day of the surgery. I paid from my medical savings that I contributed to instead of buying insurance. I have been carrying a very high deductible catastrophic policy in case of big ticket ailments, but everything else i pay out pocket.

"Now you will have affordable options to fit YOUR needs due to capitalism. Not just what your employer or the unfair insurance companies tell you to purchase."

This has nothing to do with capitalism and it will cause all medical costs to continue to rise and care levels to go down.

Every country who has ever moved in the direction of government run medical care ends up proving less care for all at a much higher price.

There will be no affordable options for most. Everything will cost more.

"More competition and new regulations that prevent them from screwing us, will lower costs and provide more options."

There will be less competition. Who will the new competitors be? This intends on putting private insurers out of business and move to zero competition.

There aren't many private businesses as corrupt as government.

"Until the government completely takes over the industry, and they will eventually, there is no way your premiums are going to go down."

When the government completely takes over the industry, and they will eventually, there is no way your premiums are going to go down.

Nothing the government ever does causes costs to go down.

"Now, doctors no longer have to worry. Everyone will be covered and they will finally get paid for all their work."

It has never worked that way in any country that has tried this. Doctors will take much longer to get paid and they will get paid less... and have higher costs because of all the government paperwork.

"If Obama really wanted every American to be covered by health insurance, he could have altered Medicare to cover everyone instead of creating this mess called Obamacare."

He has no power to do that.

Medicare is already running out of money.

"I have a question for you, because I am trying to understand your point of view.

Why do you think Romney implemented his health care reform for Massachusetts?"

Because he is just as evil as Obama.

This is not health care reform. Healthcare reform would be allowing all private insurance companies to sell insurance in every state. That would be true competition.

Government running health care is not reform, it corrupt.

Depends on the state, actually...
Illinois has a financial responsibility law...
In California, no insurance will get your registration suspended---and the insurance companies are required to inform the state if premiums aren't paid up...

We must have liability insurance so, for example, if we get into a accident and it is your fault, but you don't have insurance guess who pays my damage? My insurance company. And that causes premiums to increase. If we are all insured, that doesn't happen, which is clear with the lower car insurance rates these days.

That is why I asked, who pays for the uninsured? For those people who hope they never get sick or injured, but do, and don't have the money or insurance to cover their bills.

We all have to be insured, so there will be more options and more competition. Get it?

Geico just reached the $1 billion dollar mark in advertising. Why? Because everyone must have insurance.

That's not what the doctors that I spoke to said. In fact, I don't know any doctor who is not pleased with the decision.

Because they know that now they will get paid and will not have to care for people for free.

The government is not " running" health care.

You're still making the argument that cost shifting from the uninsured is a fact.

Two studies were done (in that link I gave you earlier), one from the perspective of the insurance companies, and one from the perspective of healthcare providers, and they found no evidence of cost shifting to pay for the uninsured.

Then you come along on here and accuse others of using political talking points to make their case?

I told you multiple times that I could not read that article because of a pay wall, so I asked you to tell me what it said as to who pays for the uninsured, but you didn't respond.

Until someone can explain (with facts) as to who is paying for uninsured and how, I will go with what I know.

I also asked why you think Romney passed a similar law in Massachusets and I believe your answer was, " ask him".

That speaks volumes.

Remember, you also agreed with a mandate, but just at the state level?

Why do you think a state level mandate to have insurance is ok?

No, I never said I agree with it. I said it is within their right to do so if they choose.

There is a difference.

Most Americans want reform. Why is ok that it is the state, but not federal.

Why is that such a big deal for you?

I don't even understand what you're trying to say here.

First, the legislation in Mass passed a similar law and Romney signed it. He didn't pass it himself.

Second, I said ask the people of Mass, not ask Romney. Since the people of Mass elected the legislation that passed the bill.

I personally think it is a bad idea. But I support the people of Mass doing it if they choose.

Of course you do.

We are talking about the need for health care reform with a mandate.

Why do you think Romney believed it was the solution in Massachusetts. Why did he think we need reform?

Do you not think our health care costs and insurance premiums are sky rocketing year over year? If so, why is that happening?
