Of course not, but their window to win another title was closing fast so I think its worth the gamble. We are talking about a guy who is a legit top 5 talent in the NBA. How often do you really get a chance at a guy like that? If they are healthy I think there the best team in the league this year...

I looked at the Laker roster after adding Howard and noticed they could have some serious depth issues. They have a good starting 5 with Kobe, Howard, Nash, Gasol, and Artest. They have a good reserve F in Jamison and a decent backup PG in Duhon. However, after that, they have many unproven reserves. Most of the good vets have signed on with other teams. I expect the Lakers to win the West and be in the NBA Finals, but depth issues could hinder their run at another title. They appear to be vulnerable at backup center, backup SF, and backup SG.

Give them Boozer, Hamilton & 2nd round pick for Gasol & Murphy.

C- Howard, Clark, Hill
PF- Boozer, Jamison (also play SF)
SF- Peace
SG- Bryant, Hamilton (also play SF), Goudelock/Blake
PG- Nash, Duhon, Blake/Goudelock

They would have more than enough depth on the bench to compete with anyone after this trade.

Yeah, that's an awful one. I also disagree they'll have depth issues. How many teams wouldn't want Jordan Hill, Antawn Jamison, or Steve Blake on their bench?

When Miami won the title last season, the idea of a superteam was validated. This is a star-driven league, while depth will get you lots of wins in the regular season, talent is what matters in crunch time, and if you have enough then you can overcome having a lousy bench and a lame duck coach. Not only to the Lakers now have the most talented starting lineup in the NBA, but it's also the most balanced (alpha perimeter scorer, dominant post player, pick-and-roll threat, lockdown perimeter defender, and a distributing PG). Besides, this isn't hockey, the Lakers can stagger their rotations so that they have a star on the floor at all times. Simply a ridiculous luxury.
