happy 4th fox, I attended celebration at Mt.Rushmore. Got back to the RV nd my brother-in-law called and pointed out that the pitcher for the orioles was at one time a mariner, ouch. The reason this recalled pitcher did so well is he was pitching against a predominately AAA club. Sorry but I believe the Mariners are barely a big league club.

I also think the present owners would prefer not to wait till 2015. That's why I posted this earlier:

"I'm thinking they'd love to sell the franchise right now, but they don't want to forfeit the increased value from a new TV deal. So they'll compromise and take whatever increase in value they can argue on the basis of a probable deal."

Happy Fourth, Dave. You really went the whole patriotic nine yards. Coincidentally, I spent some time, many years ago, visiting a guy I knew who lived in the Connecticut house where the Mt. Rushmore sculptor, Gutzon Borglum, lived and created the designs for the monument. It had a huge main room, all stone and wood with an enormous fireplace, and some cool photos of Borglum with mockups of the proposed sculpture.

I had my own nice 4th of July moment earlier tonight. I walked to the end of my block and looked down the street to watch the end of the Macy's fireworks display on the west side of Manhattan. Took a few phone cam movies of the show, but my phone's pretty cheesy. It was pleasant hanging with the small crowd on the street corner anyway.

Happy 4th! I was going to see the fireworks in San Diego harbor but my wife wanted to go to the county fair yesterday. I was bushed today but could see the fireworks from my place 15 miles from downtown.

I enjoyed the Macy's show. The last time I went was 2000-2001. They used to close off a chunk of the Belt Pkwy near Bayridge next to the Verrazano Bridge. They had several tugboats shooting them off on the harbor between downtown and Brooklyn IIRC.

I read that they cut down from six barges to four this year. Still looked great from where I was standing. It's cool to observe the celebration in a group representing immigrants from all corners of the world, in the city where Washington was inaugurated.
